It seems like the wait is nearly over, as reports are coming in that Sony is set to reveal the PSP2 on January 27.
VG247 ran with the news earlier, and MCV have also confirmed it is true but interestingly states it has some “exclusive industry insight” in this week’s magazine, “some of which will come as a huge surprise.”
“Publishers were informed late last year of the plans,” says the site, “with some of Sony’s biggest parties already at work on titles for the high-specced device.”
Stay tuned for more information as and when we get it.

That photo looks great, but the placement of the ananlogue sticks, still doesnt suit. They shpould be central rather than the d-pad and the buttons.
Anyway, aside from that, I wont be buying on day one due to my numerous bad experiences with the PSP. I cant see me buying this within the first year of release, if at all.

Thats not an actual photo of it is it?

I think the picture is a mock-up of what the PSP2 is suppose to look like from the info that’s common knowledge.
Kovacs
Aye – it’s a mock-up.

Two control sticks or I’m out. Even if it makes you a cup of tea while I’m on the way to work.

Seconded

I’m intrigued by the 3DS but I was hoping for a little more sophisticated graphics. I guess the 3D effect can be a real battery sucker but 3-5 hours of playtime each charge is not enough for me. So what I expect from the PSP2 is a better battery solution with better graphics. We know that the graphics will be nice so that leaves the question of battery usage…

PSP2 or PS Phone, that is the question. I really like the look of the phone except that the analogue is touch pads rather than nubs so it might be less comfortable to play than the PSP2 concept picture you have here. Either way bring it on.

Depends what sort of gsames you want to play
The Xperia Play will probably play PSOne games & Minis + Pocket PlayStation games (whatever they are) According to people in the know its nowhere near powerful to emulate the current PSP (nevermind a PSP2)
The PSP2 is likely to be bleeding edge technology with presumably unbelievable graphics, but you’d obviously need a phone separately and won’t be able to browse away from WiFi

They should really make it capable of being tethered to a phone through bluetooth like the pspgo. Makes online play on the go an option, without the cost of making it a full features phone.

Dual analog sticks & proper PSN support (friends, msgs, trophies etc).
Give me that and I’m sold.
I’ll be getting a 3DS for my kids regardless, but if the PSP2 has the above features, then i’ll be purchasing both.

I could do with one to replace my PSP 1000. It needs 2 Analogue sticks, a camera and a good price before I’ll buy it though.

Haha Sony brains were like
” 3ds… nah not yet at e3 ”
” 3ds software lineup… nah not yet ”
” 3ds has nice specs… but not yet ”
” dayum thats a good price tag, but just a little longer, trust me”
” 3ds has a great battery life… NOW WE DO IT! “

Anyone thinking 3D may HAVE to be included if they want to reach the wider market?
3DS could get Avatar-like hype from the media over that alone, never mind being the successor to the DS!
I just want better graphics, 2nd stick, trophies and backwards compatibility.

Add a hard drive to that without losing the memory slot and i’m sold
