Gran Turismo 5 continues to evolve well beyond its initial release, proving that some of the early reviews were pre-emptive, inaccurate write-ups of a game that has grown considerably since release. Yes, it’s still inperfect but as Polyphony’s online portion evolves at a steady pace and the number of races and features likewise, it’s clear that anyone buying GT 5 is in for a long-term ride.
The notion of the B-Spec races might confuse some still, but even if the concept of letting an AI driver do the donkey work effectively tieing up your PS3 is slightly alien, the idea that you’ll be able to do just that from a browser whilst in another room of the house (or at work) surely must excite even the most wary of gamers.
Polyphony boss Kaz Yamauchi has confirmed that this new part of GT5, dubbed Gran Turismo Anywhere (or Remote Racing) is still coming, and it’s due next month. It’s still not 100% clear what this feature will actually provide, but the official GT site clearly states that your PS3 will have to be running in order for the feature to work. Let’s hope it’s worth the wait and gives us slightly more control over our drivers.

With the amount of grinding B-Spec demands when you reach the endurance events, this will be a welcome feature.

I couldn’t disagree with you more. If I show a client my work then they can only go on what I’m doing.
Most reviewers worked with pretty much the release version and it showed how the game was still void of some basic features. Simply put, Kaz’s OCD ran wild, like a ritalin-starved child. No one put a stop to his unachievable and perfection-centric goals. So much time was wasted (in my opinion) the game they released was poor. Sure, the simulation aspect was still as strong as ever but as a deliverable item with commercial appeal to both old and new? Definitely not. We saw hulking great big updates which highlighted the fundamental problem. Too much was bitten off and PD couldn’t chew.
I’m chuffed to bits that they’re at least seeing the original vision through, even if it is in piecemeal form but I truly hope that PD learn from all of this (for next time).

To me, the differences between playing A-Spec and B-Spec are similar to playing Fifa/PES and then Football Manager. Essentially the same game but in a different format. Having the option to do both is great, especially when you’re in need of some cash!
If the ‘Anywhere’ feature is launched it could certainly make the working day a lot more interesting :) However, it will only be successful if it is done properly and not done quickly and then patched up with the inevitable updates. Fingers crossed…
