Black Ops: First Strike DLC Trailer

Treyarch have today released a preview for four of the five maps which will feature in Call Of Duty: Black Ops’ first DLC map pack, First Strike. The four maps shown will be playable across the multiplayer modes whereas the fifth map for Zombie mode, which is not yet revealed, will see you fighting off the zombie hordes in the Soviet launch facility, Ascension.

The four multiplayer maps are:

Kowloon.
This will be familiar from the single player campaign, which sees players battling across rain soaked Hong Kong rooftops, and yes it features zip lines enabling you to get from one area to another extremely quickly, although they do leave you a bit exposed.

Berlin Wall.
Forces on the west take on those in the east, across a pretty dangerous looking and exposed no man’s land. This is a large level suited to long range weapons.

Discovery.
Again familiar from the single player campaign, this is the German Arctic outpost. This map features a huge chasm with destructible bridges, and a choke point which your team will need to gain control of to be successful.

Stadium.
Set in an abandoned Ice Hockey stadium, this map is ideally suited for close quarters combat, so get those shotguns ready!

The map pack will be available exclusively for 1,200MP on the Xbox 360 on February 1st with the PS3 and PC version to follow at a later date.

  1. As a big Black Ops fan, I’ll likely end up getting this. Depending on how Killzone 3 and Homefront MP grabs me, this might be the only one, though.

    • Thats it, they are sorting of shooting themselves in the foot here for PS3 gamers, as alot of FPS gamers will be grabbing KZ3 (if they don’t they are mad) so not many will be playing CODBO I would of thought. I personally wont be.

      • Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 are still the two most popular online console titles* – I don’t think Killzone 2 is gonna outsell Black Ops or reduce it’s online userbase by any noticeable margin.

*= I can only find Xbox related figures for this but after seeing the online numbers on Black Ops, it must be a similar situation on PS3.

  2. so again the 360 gets prority over release times. wtf is wrong with the world

    • The early release on the 360 was mentioned at E3 and will continue for all COD games for the foreseeable future.

There’s nothing wrong with the world per se. It’s just a business decision.

    • Activision have a deal with Microsoft, in a similar way to EA having a deal with Sony.

If I remember rightly it’s a 30 day period, so you can think of the 360 release as a beta test for the later PS3 release if you want.

      • what’s EA’s deal with sony? I thought the love shown for dead space 2 was just a developer preference and merit for their age long partnership, not just money stuffed down an executive’s shirt

      • Since FIFA 09 & Mirrors Edge, EA have a marketing arrangement with Sony. The Mirrors Edge DLC appeared first on the PS3, only Sony consoles are in the Madden & FIFA ads, special edition of Dante’s Inferno, extra content in MoH and then obviously the Dead Space 2 stuff, its just business.

      • true, let the 360 users make the mistakes so the PS3 is a better ironed out version. Which was what happened with the 360 DLC on MW2 if I remember rightly….

  3. Some really fun looking maps there. However, If I want them, I’ll need the game first. :S
Nope, shooter priorities lie with Homefront and Killzone 3.

    • same. i really like how you can have flow over how the maps change in this one. still isn;t going to get me away from BF and killzone though

  4. only really play this game offline, so the zombie map is the only one i’m interested in

  5. Sounds like it’s all about the snipers then.

  6. Neato

  7. Oh how lovely, they’re actually trying new game elements, i.e. zip lines, turrets & destructible environments.

It’ll be interesting to see how well this is done, but I can already predict these maps are going to let the default maps feel very bland and restricted, since they really only gave us the option to break windows and open ground doors in ‘Radiation.’

Oh well, I’m probably going to buy it anyway.

    • Call Of Duty Black Ops & Modern Warfare 2 lack vehicles. Its what sets BFBC2 apart from the competition right now, that AND squad play. Right now I really dislike Call Of Duty, tabloid gaming!

  8. cant view
getting frustrated(put politely) with ps3 browsers lack of current flash player

if this dlc looks any good, may stop me trading B.Ops towords KZ3
(kz3 whic ill get with or without trade)

  9. looks alot better than the 1st offering
but for some reason at least so far, b.ops doesnt work for me
cant put my finger on it. i still enjoy w@w more, possibly map layouts
dislike b.ops sound effects, but can overlook that
w@w sound effects weren’t great, but b.ops are worse, especially explosions

maybe dlc will redeem this installment of cod for me, all prev maps feel too cramped imo

for anyone using the ps3 browser, viewed a gd quality vid of the above at

  10. How much will this be on PS3? will i have to re-mortgage my house to afford it?

    • 1200MS points is the same price as the previous Modern Warfare 2 map packs so about £10.99 on the PSN?

    • I`m trading this game in as soon as Dead Space 2 comes out

      • AND MASS EFFECT 2 :)

      • To be honest i`m not really into Mass Effect, the demo was alright but i don`t think i`ll be getting it
