EU To Get 900,000 3DS Units At Launch

MCV are reporting that Nintendo will be shipping 900,000 units into Europe during the launch window of the 3DS. Whilst that initial figure sounds high, anticipation for the new handheld is off the chart and we hope that the situation that affected the Wii doesn’t repeat itself, with stock being rarer than rocking horse poop.

We went hands on with the 3DS hardware and software this week. Our write up can be found here.

  1. 5 million seem to be the magic number lately!

  2. I’m in. Looking forward to seeing it running. Bet its loads of fun :-D

  3. I believe it’ll sell that without even trying.

  4. What about the UK?

    • I’d guess that the UK (and Australia) are included in that.

      • Why would Austraia be inclded in Europe’s DS supply count?

      • It’s just the way it works, I think middle east is included in the EU as well!

  5. If I’m being honest, that figure doesn’t sound high at all. Sounds perfectly sensible when you consider things like the PS2 sold a million on the launch weekend in Japan. This is a cheaper console and should sell by the bucket load.

Is there a chance of digging out the figures for what EU had with the DSi? I’m trying to source them but it’s always tricky with regional breakdowns like this.

    • Apparently the DS took three months to hit 1 million.

      • But what about the DSLite, or DSi?
People know and trust the concept now. This (should) easily meet the expected sales figures.

  6. There was a stock issue with the Wii? I honestly didn’t notice that. Picked mine up day one without any fuss.
(I did have to queue for WiiFit though. – That was enough exercise for that week.)

  7. The 3DS will sell 5 mill without breaking a sweat. Personally I think I’ll wait for the 3DSi.

  8. Isnt 900k very little?
    Or is this just me?
