According to sources talking to the LA Times, Sledgehammer Games has been tasked with developing Modern Warfare 3 alongside Infinity Ward. “People close to the matter” have said that the two developers are “equally sharing duties of producing the single-player portion of the game.”
It has also been suggested that this pooling of resources has delayed the CoD spin-off that Sledgehammer was working on. So, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward – is this a dream team?

i think the only reason they’re teaming up is the fact that activision didn’t like the way sledgehammer were going with there spin-off and called an end to it and made them jump over and help infinity ward what with the problems theyve had.
Kovacs
Have you a source in Activision?
Call me?
:)
Jaffa-the-Cake
I saw a job listing on Gamasutra a while back by Sledgehammer looking for a person to work on ‘the new call of duty game’
Kovacs
Yes .. but what has that got to do with muted’s claim that Activision are unhappy with Sledgehammer’s approach to their COD game?
muted
yeah they rang me the other day and told me they was like this is a courtesy call and we would like to give you 5 million pound and all inside information starting with this if you sell your soul to the devil (kotick) i declined to say the least i had to really think about the offer
skibadee
so no proof then lol.
muted
no not really but my 2 cents i could be spot on

So Activision doesn’t like the way Sledgehammer were making their game so they set them to work on their top title? Logic doesn’t add up there.
If the LA Times is to be believed maybe it could be due to the lower number of staff IW has since some of them went to Respawn. It could just be a way of helping IW to hit their deadlines.

I don’t know anyone else, but after being burned 50 quid for a game that turned out to be an absolute stinker, they can stuff MW3 for all I care.
bigdon23
Loving Blops, but i think it will be the last COD for me (depending on how they improve it)
map creation editor would be the mind changer for me, but thats never gonna happen whilst the map packs sell
NotoriousGTT
A risk of too many cooks spoiling it perhaps. Knowing very little about the inner workings of the games industry, but usually having 2 teams working on one thing results in a bit of a cock up, normally due to ego and lack of communication.

I’d like to think the new MoH is an exception. Danger Close did the single player and DICE worked on the online. For the most part, it worked.
The way I see it, if IW work on the story side of things (as they’ve created that story) and Sledgehammer actually make the gameplay parts, it could be quite good :)
Bilbo_bobbins
MOH in my eyes was a rip off. MP was terrible for DICE and the single player was way too short. Bought played and sold very quickly because it was that bad. I hardly ever sell a game.
colmshan1990
You thought MOH was a rip-off?
Two games for the price of one, along with a multiplsyer that can hold it’s own with most if not all shooters?
Fair enough if you didn’t like it, sell it, but that was no rip-off.
BrendanCalls
I thought MOH was really good too, much better than Blop’s
gazzagb
Looking forward to this and whatever Respawn make. Blops made me realise how good IW are at both SP and MP, in comparison to Treyarch
BrendanCalls
Couldn’t agree more, Treyarch messed up so bad it makes you realise how good IW really are. Here’s hoping the philosophy, along with their development process hasn’t changed too much with the fallout after MW2 and the same high standard for MP are still set.

Personally I am a bored of COD now, CODBO was alright, nothing special, MW2 was rubbish. A lot of people will buy anything with the word COD on, but I think their time has gone. BFBC and KZ kick them to the sidelines every time.
aphex187
BO was the last COD game i will ever buy and i have been down with this series since it came out on the PC. The way they handled the PS3 and PC versions for a triple A title was an absolute joke and one i do not wish to experience again!
Plus the fact that Activision are a complete bag of evilness now aids me in the fact i will never purchase anything from this company again! Good riddance!
InternationalGamer
COD MW2
InternationalGamer
Sorry for the very short reply, it was an accident, I was trying to say was… that COD MW2 was the first and last COD I will buy, it was to plain and I hated the online. The story was ok but just to short.
Wing-Sabre
maybe the IW Cleaner didnt have the coding experience necessary for the whole game ?
ThatBoyTim
I will buy the next COD… And hate myself for it!
RudeAwakening
dont think i’ll ever get another COD, not as long as there is BFBC, by far the most amazing online experience i’ve had in a modern war game. BFBC surpasses COD by a clear mile. thats my opinion anyhow. :)
