Saints Row 3 Confirmed For Autumn 2011

Curses, publishers have finally noticed that it’s not only analysts who listen in to their investor calls!

Saints Row 3 placed at a very respectable number 35 in the TSA Top 100 of 2011 and in one such investor call THQ have revealed a release window of  “Q3 2011” for the upcoming free roaming title. Details of the game have been nonexistent and THQ CEO Brian Farrell was not about to let le chat sortir du sac.

“I have been placed under a very tight gag order by our Saints Row team,” he said, “Hang in there, you’re going to love it.”

The call also revealed “half a dozen” Kinect and/or Move games in development and that Guilliemero Del Toro’s game, Insane, will not ship until 2013. Darksiders 2, Vigil’s 40K MMO Dark Millennium Online and Devil’s Third will also be seen sometime between Summer 2012 and Summer 2013.

  1. I’ve never played a saints row game, seems like a second rate gta to me, and I’m hideously bored of such games. While I could appreciate what an accomplishment both gta4 and rdr were, they just didn’t do it for me, nothing in there I hadn’t seen a hundred times before. I should’ve loved rdr, I’m a big fan of the wild west setting, but other than the story I was bored by it.

    • You are mugging yourself. Saints Row 2 was like GTA but with the focus back on just having fun. Reminded me of Vice City but with even more crazy shit you could do. Try to a long handstand on a car? Sure. Spray slurry at pedestrians? Why not. Go streaking? Do it!

I am really looking forward to this.

      • I completely agree, originally I wasn’t too fond on Saint’s Row, but after playing the first one i was hooked. The second one in terms of story and location wasn’t as good but the fun factor was there and they had learned from the gameplay mistakes in number one such as checkpoints etc that Rockstar never seem to do with GTA. The cruise control feature was something I particularly liked too.

      • I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Saints Row 2 was the best ‘modern day setting’ sandbox game ever made! I sold GTAIV after a month, was the most frustrating horrible game I’ve ever played. Killed Sandbox games for me, until I picked up Saints Row 2 on a special. It’s just crazy fun. The only sandbox game that encourages you to do whatever you want.

    • plus it got tons of customization options, lots of humor, and… Jonny Gat! SR3 has some great ideas that are implemented poorly. It’s one of those games you need to play for a while to truly appreciate. It’s not a brilliant series but it does shine in the right light.

    • Saints Row 2 was rough around the edges, very rough in places but it had bucket loads of fun. GTAIV bored the arse off me, SR2 had me playing it like the GTAs on the PS2.

I didn’t follow the story because as is the nature of the beast with sandbox games you just repeatedly go from one point of the map to the other, but the tasks had far more variety than GTAIV but fecking about & blowing shit up was just too much fun

But as a Sand Box SR2 is the best for me this gen, flaws & all.

      • GTA4 was a mature GTA it was excellent imo.

    • you should at least give the game a go before bad mouthing it, plus it was a great game in it’s own little world.

  2. I think SR3 and Darksiders 2 are the only THQ games I’m buying in the next 3 years. sorry THQ ¦)

  3. Never cared for SR, but Darksiders 2 and Warhammer 40k Space Marine are definite pre-orders.

  4. Yesness! Sticky bombs ftw – loved SR2!

  5. Wahoooooo! Sr2 Was great :)

  6. Can’t wait

  7. Never played any of them…

  8. I might be the exception apparently, but found that SR2 was a horrible game. Tastes differ I guess. Very sceptical about SR3 personally.

  9. I like Saints Row but it has nothing on GTA.

  10. Never played saints row 1
Bought saints row 2 – Traded days later
Not expecting too much of saints row 3

i never got why friends could transport to you when playing SP
