Amongst all the doom and gloom of yesterday’s Activision news shines a ray of light. 2011 will not only see a new game based on the fantastic ‘Family Guy’ animation, but Spider-Man and Transformers will also be making an appearance.
Activision Publishing boss, Eric Hirshberg, had the following to say:
“This year, we plan to release two movie-based titles. An all-new X-Men game, tied to the feature film X-Men: First Class, and Transformers 3, which will coincide with Michael Bay’s blockbuster movie release.
Also, this year, we plan to launch games based on the best-selling Spider-Man franchise, the toy phenomenon Bakugan, hit TV shows Wipeout and Family Guy, as well as the latest release in the long-standing Cabela’s Hunting franchise.
These are all strong franchises with passionate niche audiences that can achieve repeatable and profitable success.”
Giggity giggity goo!

The last X-Men game, the Wolverine one, was good as was the last Transformers game so all hope isn’t lost – however tying the project to a Michael Bay movie gives me cause for concern
mrfodder
Last years Transformers game was an original idea that was given time to be developed. The Wolverine game was already being developed before the movie was announced and so linked in for marketing. My expectations for Activision’s games this year are very very low.
The Solid one
Hmm, I thought Acti were only going to focus on COD,WOW and that other game which i can’t remeber. I hope True Crime was not cut just for a bunch of movie tie ins. They barely work. The last decent movie tie games i played were the Harry potter series and The matrix:Path of Neo.The Solid One is sad to here this news.:(

True Crime was cut because it was crap
“To be blunt,” said Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirschberg, “it just wasn’t going to be good enough.”
Cutting at a relatively late stage is a nightmare for the publisher when you think how many millions could have already been sunk into it, so it must have really stunk

I personally don’t think any of the games listed here will play any better than True Crime would have done. the only difference is that these will sell more. Which is justifiable.

Its the American version…

hows about?the characters from family guy in a wipeout game, i’d buy that for a dollar

Unless they’re just releasing an HD version of spiderman 2, I dont wanna hear about any of these games
Symposium Cacophony
Why not the original from the Dreamcast and Playstation? that waaaas epic!! I’d love to play Spider-Man 2 again though just as Spider-Man…

There’s already a Wipeout game for the wii, it looks horrid!
The last transformers game wasn’t bad, but if it’s rushed out for the movie launch it’ll no doubt be shockingly bad.
Nothing else interests me.

I hope they know what they’re doing this time

I think for the best outcome; a family guy game should be a well put together parody of another franchise (or mixed franchise’) i.e COD, racing games and maybe even free roam

Good idea, I was thinking gameplay along the lines (in the same ball park) of the rather good Time Gentleman Please but a parady setting would work best, as long as it doesn’t go all ‘Lego’ on us
BG123
That’s what the Simpsons game was like; parodies of other games. It was good too so I hope this family guy game is good aswell.
