God of War Developers Join ‘Respawn’

Although they’ve yet to even announce the first title they’re working on, Respawn Entertainment is already well known amongst the gaming community. As you’ve likely already heard, the two heads of the studio, Vince Zampella and Jason West, were involved in a major controversy with Activision which led to them forming their own studio. While we still don’t know what they’re working on, we do know that there are at least two God of War developers that now have their hands on deck. NowGamer is reporting that Justin Hendry and Robert Taube have joined the team at Respawn, both leaving Sony Santa Monica in the process. While Robert Taube’s role is not yet known, Justin Hendry will be taking the role of a ‘Senior Designer’ which is the same spot he filled while working for Sony.

Whatever it is Respawn is working on, it must be pretty big. By my way of thinking, you don’t leave a job working for one of the bigger studios in the gaming industry who created one of the greatest games we’ve seen this generation for nothing.

  1. This is looking increasingly more and more interesting.
Just have to wait and see i suppose

  2. Sometimes you just need a change of scene. With GoW’s trilogy having come to an end last year, and any collaborative work needed for Ghost of Sparta also over a few months back, several people will see that as a point to move on to new turf.

  3. I’m intrigued as to what they are working on. I hope it’s not just going to be a COD game with a different name.

  4. Perhaps we’ll see a game that runs well on PS3 this time.

  5. its gonna be a hybrid COD-esque game.

No doubt it will be good judging by the talent pool.

  6. West and Zampella are basically making the dream team of video game development. Whatever they make will be amazing.

    • My thoughts exactly, I’m almost drooling in antipitation as to what this new five star dev team can come up with!

  7. Looking forward to whatever they are working on!

  8. “Call of the Gods: War Duty” a first person slash em up set in an ancient Russian airport…

To be fair, Respawn might have a policy whereby all female staff have to remain topless during working hours. That’d win it for me.

    • Are they still accepting apps? ;-)

  10. To pull two guys like that from Sony must be something really big.
I wonder if there’s a reveal at next years E3.
