The first reviews for the Nintendo 3DS Japanese launch games are in (from Famitsu) and, on the whole, they seem to be positive. There are some games there that the US and EU won’t be getting, so below is a list of the ones that are relevant:

  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition – 34/40
  • Samurai Warriors Chronicles – 34/40
  • Winning Eleven 3D Soccer – 32/40
  • Puzzle Bobble 3D – 24/40
  • Nintendogs + Cats – 38/40
  • Ridge Racer 3D – 32/40
  • Combat of Giant Dinosaurs 3D – 23/40
  • Super Monkey Ball 3D – 32/40

A decent set of scores, and a surprisingly high score for Samurai Warriors, which beat the new Professor Layton game. I still don’t know what launch titles I’m getting; Street Fighter is a cert, but I also liked Ridge Racer…and Super Monkey Ball…and Pilot Wings…and…

  1. “which beat the new Professor Layton game.”
Well, what did Layton get then?

    • 8,8,8,8.

      • That’s great. Will be one of the first games I pick up when I eventually get a 3DS…

      • Famitsu aren’t very reliable for game reviews and shouldn’t be used as a yard stick to meausre others against it.

    • Sorry, didnt list it because we won’t be getting it for ages.

  2. Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D? A fighting game with dinosaurs. How can that not of done well?

    • I only played a bit of it – it looks nice, but I can see the combat dragging after a while.

    • their is one on the ps1.

  3. Will get one, just not right away, want MGS to drop for it then I am in, *stealthly of course, but in all the same.

*May be a word, may not. You decide.

  4. Please no more subtitles referencing cringeworthy songs. Thanks.

    • hey, don’t blame us.
      We didn’t start the fire.

      • I must admit I do it occasionally, i’m guilty, guilty as a girl can be.

  5. SSFIV3D, PES and Riiiiiidge Racer for me. I think. Probably Pilot Wings too.
    Excited.

  6. I’m a bit tied at the moment, though I know Samurai Warriors is on my list, especially after that spectacular review. Pilotwings, Madden, and Ghost Recon are on my “maybes” list. Would like to get in SSF4, but I don’t have the mentality to get into a hardcore fighting game.

  7. They really love nintendogs. I’m getting the bulldog one.

  8. I’m passing on the 3DS, I’d rather get the LG Optimus 3D or iPhone 5 and I’m getting a PSP NGP this year so I’m low on cash already :(

  9. Interesting to see. I can’t decide whether to fork out for one or not.

  10. When will TSA be reviewing it?

I’m still unsure if the 3ds is worth the cost. Good to see it has good reviews.
