New Screens For 'Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure'

The dragon returns.

Spyro The Dragon was once seen as one of the most influential characters PlayStation had, back in the days of the original PlayStation. Unfortunately for Spyro, development of the series has changed hands about 10 different times and Activision marks the sixth different publisher everyone’s favorite purple dragon has had. The series has had a few missteps along the way but Activision, as a publisher, is perfectly capable of helping to right the ship. Below we have a batch of new screenshots from the newest Spyro game, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures. Developed by Toys for Bob, this new adventure will take the series in a new direction and the script for the game was actually written by a couple of writers who worked on the first Toy Story movie, so it seems like the series may be in good hands.

Time will tell and although there’s not firm release date for Europe yet, you can expect it to hit shelves later this year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii and 3DS. Check out the screens below and be sure to leave us your thoughts.

My thoughts exactly. I was looking through the pictures and was like “not to bad, I kinda like this, wonder if I get to see spyr… my god, why?!”

      Sadly, exactly what I thought.
The game looked just like a HD version of the original Spyro trilogy… Until I saw Spyro.
Think the fans’ outrage can cause an inFamous 2-esque makeover? Or dlc skin?

I was just about to say the same thing. Well, I was gonna say that he looks hella creepy, but still, urgh. I feel like I’d be justified in adding this to my reason to hate Activision hate list.

To me, it seems like Spyro is a victim of board room design. As in, they’ve gone, “Spyro isn’t selling” and as a reaction they’ve given him extra horns, made him look angry and it looks just awful.

It’s Spyro’s ugly child isn’t it? Surely its not a face-for-the-radio reimagining? At least Sonic had the common decency to just get a midget clone made of himself.

Though, I could totally see Activision pulling a “Shadow the Hedgehog”, making a darker clone of Spyro and giving him a gun.

Oh poor Spyro… I love the original Insomniac developed games (i still play them every now and then) but really Bobby Kotick should’ve been kept away from the franchise, if only so that my nostalgia could remain untainted.

Didn’t Spyro used to be ‘cute’ once upon a time?

Except the fact that Spyro looks a little weird this is good news. I love the franchise. Are any of the PS3 Spyro games good?
