HMV Launches Re/Play App For iOS/Android

UK retailer, HMV, has released a free app on iTunes/Android marketplace which is designed to help you trade in your old games. Titled ‘re/play’, the app lets you check out the value of your old games instantly as either credit, gift vouchers, or cash.

Quite a nice feature is being able to just scan the game’s barcode instead of having to type out names in a search box. Of course, it also features a store locator.

This seems like quite a tidy little app, and even if you don’t plan on trading stuff in at HMV it will still give you a ball-park figure of what you can expect elsewhere.

  1. Nice, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for there to be an app for that mind. Wonder how long it will take the likes of GAME and gamestation to follow suit, unless of course they already have and I just look like a damn fool, in which case I shall remove myself to the naughty corner.

  2. Sounds like a great idea. I don’t have an HMV locally but it will come in handy for getting an idea of trade in value

  3. Been out a few weeks, used it to comapre prices of my ps3 games after I got ylod. Some good prices, fifa £20, heavy rain £17 & some not so good so used eBay

    • not getting another ps3?

      • Nah, would like to but I’ve had more PS3’s go wrong than 360’s now and they wanted me to pay another £140 on top of the launch £425 I paid to get it swapped and I lost all my game saves (stupid hard drive design Sony) ……. so time to cut my losses, sold all my games and just getting a stand alone BR player

      • thats a shame, I must admit with all the latest games being not very good, and mostly FPS, I hardly touch mine anyway, other than watching films.

  4. downloading now, nice one. I will be using this for KZ3/Crysis. Then I can take them in tomorrow if its a decent price.

  5. haven’t even got any of these OSs!!!!

  6. Ah, will download this for my X-P

  7. Ah, this will definitely be useful for getting a comparison. At the moment I use Cex’s website for a rough idea of how much my games are worth.

  8. Will be a nice handy app to have in my pocket :D

  9. awesome! might actually get me to buy something in HMV.

  10. I can’t seem to find the app on the android market. It’s probably me being simple though.
