Sega have made some great games. Every now and then I see or hear something that reminds me just what an awesome company they were in the days of the Master System and Mega Drive. The unfortunate decline that set in with the still awesome Saturn and the criminally undervalued Dreamcast genuinely annoys me.
So, the re-release of their classic games is something I like to see. Crazy Taxi brought its finely tuned madness to the Download stores last year and many of the legendary 8- and 16-bit classics are already available just about everywhere. Well, now it’s the turn of Guardian Heroes, one of the precursors to the modern love for action RPGs.
Originally released on the Sega Saturn in 1996, this is much loved, co-op, brawling RPG has been visually enhanced and given full network connectivity so you can hook up with a co-op buddy online or fight against others in versus battles with up to 12 players. There will also be new game modes to allow the 45 characters plenty of opportunity to shine.
There is no firm release date as yet but we’ll keep you posted.

a quick googling, ooh er, shows what looks like a pretty fun game.
hopefully this will make it’s way to the ps3 as well because co-op looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Heres hoping it drops on ps3.

LOVED this game, me and my brother used to play this to death.
Why only on XBOX?????

Would like to think Local Co-op would be available as I would asume the original was local.
I don’t understand why some games are online Co-op only?

Fantastic news. Such a great game. This is one of the best 2D beat’m ups ever and is very rare (it’s one of the few rare games I actually have, fetches big sums on e-bay). This ‘d better come to PSN.

Apparently it’s an exclusive. Up yours, MS.

Yeah, I mentioned that it’s the only reason I’d go back on XBL at the moment.

that’s a bloody shame, still, it’s sega, so we could see it one day.
here’s hoping.

My mate mentioned this earlier in work and I just have to say OH MY.
One of my all time favourite games ever, and loved playing it full on multi player on the Saturn. I just hope that they do it justice as going back to play it on the Saturn a few years ago was a bad idea – suffers from massive slowdown when you have lots of gods/characters on doing flashy moves. Quite how I put up with it originally I don’t know.
I was banned from playing undead soldier.

Just saw some early screens for it on Kotaku… Not sure how I feel about this ‘HD-fied’ now.
I have a sinking feeling as Sega seem to be making a balls up of a lot of things recently.
