We used to sing a song as kids. “Why are we waaaaaiting?” it went, along with various other poorly rhymed lines.
It’s getting ever more relevant now, especially as there’s precious little correspondence coming back from Sony regarding timescales or even word on the so-called “Welcome Back” pack.
Sony Japan have just issued one such statement, though, although it doesn’t say anything particularly new other than they’re still working on it, and they’re still very sorry.
They’re still working on the final stages of the new security systems and they’re hoping to get the service up and running as soon as possible, says a translation.
They’re also trying to make Jelly Babies out of cardboard, say we.
However, Sony Japan have repeated that the roll-out of the PSN, once finalised, will be regional, so expect Japan first and Europe after that, once they’ve pushed out the required firmware update to everyone in stages.

it seems to me that Sony have no idea when psn will be up and running, getting tired of the ridiculously vague statements. maybe it takes a while to implement the safety features that should have been there in the first place. At least ive had more time to use the ps3’s wonderful browser.

WE ARE SUFFFACAAAAATING!

Is it me or should Microsoft really be pushing the stops out to capitalise on this. Maybe a small price reduction (£20?) or at least a marketing campaign along the lines of the now, tired olde joke – ‘it only does online!’
Thats what i would be putting to the board if I worked for them
MrBlack
i reckon they’ll have a few digs at sony at e3.
Deadpixel
They still have some revenge to take for the ‘pew pew’ dig… This is much more painful though, so I doubt (hope not) that they’ll go that low..

regional?
bloody regional?
i’m really beginning to hate that word, no, that’s not true, i’ve hated it for years.
but i especially despise when sony use it, because it invariably means europe will get screwed yet again.
i swear i’ve put up with every kind of crap from sony because of their disregard for europe, not without complaint mind, but if this goes down how i expect, well that may well just be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
and when i can get back on the blog they will hear about my displeasure, repeatedly, and at length, and that will just be for starters.
but hey, i could be wrong about the way they’ll handle this, i’ll be glad to be.
but over a decade of being a playstation owner tells me sony are very bull headed in their attitudes to different regions.
not to mention backwards, anachronistic, short sighted, and last but not least stupid.
well, what else would you call treating your best customers the worst, but stupid?
almost half the ps3s sold were sold in europe, more than either japan or the us.
that makes europe the biggest market for the ps3, how sony fail to realise that so consistently is staggering.
to me it is anyway.

In total, there are over 77 million registered accounts, over 31 million created in the United States alone. Great Britain comes in second highest, with over 9 million accounts created from that country, and Japan rounds out the top three with over 7 million accounts.
All other regions displayed at link:

Almost changed my 6ax id to link, as have grown quite fond of them of late.

10 quid keving butler is rolled out when it comes back online to make some quick gags to get us back on sonys side
Deadpixel
That would be very risky, seeing as a huge part of the user group is to some degree frustrated with them. To put Butler forward could send the wrong message (e.g. not taking their customers seriously etc) and aggravate this frustration and anger.. But, if they do it and they do it right, then it has to be the best PR stunt of the year…

Was not fussed about this, but its getting too long now, want to sync my trophies!

Lets hope in that firmware update there will be a browser upgrade for the system! So sick of the painfully slow and half loaded pages the PS3 browser spits out at me!
Foxhound_Solid
Ill be happy to see my psn back.
