The multiplayer element in Uncharted 2 was met with seemingly mixed reviews by a lot of gamers. Naughty Dog is hoping that what they’ve learned in Uncharted 2 will make for a unanimously successful multiplayer outing for Uncharted 3.
Below is a video interview that was recently posted on the PlayStation Blog with several of the developers from Naughty Dog that discuss just that; what they learned from Uncharted 2, and some of the things they’re doing differently for Drake’s Deception.
Also posted on the blog was a lengthy interview regarding a few additional details about Uncharted 3’s multiplayer. You check it out here.

I enjoyed U2’s multiplayer, but man…those cheap grenade kills.
“Aaah, I’m going to die. Throw a grenade!”

UC2 multiplayer was very very enjoyable, as it was pretty limited coding wise & so everything was quite balanced, especially pre-1.04 patch. But this looks like Cod has managed to go to TPS. Weapon attachments? Medal kickbacks? Retarded perks? I liked UC2 MP as 1. everyone started with same weapon, 2. the health was spot on & 3. gun skill actually mattered. Granted the SP will be amazing so its a mustbuy but the MP will be a step back in my opinion. But then this is no surprise looking at other shooters which seem to add stuff “because Cod has it” ie. rfom -> R2, KZ2 -> KZ3. My opinion ¬_¬.

Agreed on most if not all of what you say, and I know a lot of other UC2 players feel the same. A playlist without boosters, medal kickbacks and similar stuff can’t be hard to implement, and would satisfy a lot of players.
Still, there is that, that we haven’t tried it out ourselves yet, and personally I cannot wait for the beta, hopefully it’ll be a pleasant surprise.

I swear to god, if this becomes even more Gears’ish than the second…
