PS Vita Logo Appears

More confirmation that the NGP will be officially known as the PS Vita as a logo for the device has been registered with the Trademarks and Designs Registration Office of the European Union.

The typeface is the same as the current PlayStation branding and as well as the logo the terms ‘PS Vita’ and ‘PlayStation Vita’ have been trademarked.

So what does Vita mean? Well it’s the Latin word for life but also the second letter in the Greek alphabet which we would pronounce ‘Beta’ – is that a hint?

Vita is also the name of a city in Italy, a small town in India, a female American rapper, a brand of drinks in Hong Kong and the name of a small car by Opel.

  1. Growing on me now. Just waiting for the show now :)

  2. My company is called Vita Media, how long until I get an offer for my domain name?

  3. It could just be one of the many “services” Sony have on consoles or maybe a version of playstation plus for handhelds. New names don’t necessarily relate to hardware

  4. Well , life sure can be humorous… so i guess you could call this Wry-Vita..

  5. I like the logo but not the name. Probably because i like NGP but thats just my opinion.

  6. If you mum is on Twitter and you are organising a dinner party you will be able to tweet her from your Vita and tell her where you’re going to seat her (next to Uncle Peter).

    ithankyou.

  7. I quite like the name but obviously the name is unimportant, the console is fun, people will learn to like the name in time due to that

  8. It’s also a Norwegain margarin that’s supposed to be good for your heart. That logo looks way to rough and unfinished to be the real deal.

  9. All hail the PSV :oD

  10. Sooooo exciting
