Sony wowed audiences around the globe earlier today with its live demonstrations for PlayStation Vita, the spiritual successor to the PSP.
Though the software line-up just kept getting better and better, there’s no doubt some had already turned their focus to the Vita’s price-point. Kazuo Hirai was pleased to announce that both models of the Vita will launch below the $300 mark, the wi-fi only version selling at $249, with its 3G enabled counterpart ramping the cost up to $299.
UK-based GAME is one of the first retailers to come forward with an estimate price; £229.99 for Vita wi-fi and £279.99 for Vita 3G. Before everyone whips out their currency converters and bombard the comment section, this price is likely to drop, Sony announcing that an official UK price will be revealed towards the end of the year.

I will pay 230 for one.

They will not do a straight currency conversion, £230 is exactly what I expect. This was the same situation with the PSPGo, $249 translated to £220/30

Hoping a supermarket does the wifi one for about £200ish, even so, it’s a good price, I was expecting more. It will be interesting to see how much the games sell for now.

game are a bunch of wanksplat knob jockeys!
but anyway, its not too bad a price, im more interested in what network is going to carry the Vita and what sort of price plans we will get for it.
Also, its bloody annoying that US prices are always announced so far in advance but UK prices are announced like the week before things go on sale!
jimmy-google
play.com have it for the same prices too.

I expect Game to cling to the price they think it should be until the market is saturated enough by the super markets at which point they’ll sell it at the same price when the customer base is non existant. It’s what they do every time, daft really. I’m still getting one though, sod the price! Do I NEED 3G?… Need…

Much of it isn’t going to Game anyway right? like new games, they’ll charge it high while it’ll be cheaper anywhere that isn’t owned by The Game group.
Youles
I only paid £350 for my PS3 on launch day!! :(

£425…. no fair (T_T)
gideon1451
I was expecting less than this, to be honest.

You’re kidding right?
A Quad Core Cpu(Is it a 1Ghz?) and a Quad Core GPU with a OLED screen for less than £250 is cheap tbh.
Seeing as the cheap hardware 3DS is £180 with no quad core’s and no high res oled screen. Pffttt…..
Tuffcub
Seems a decent price to me.

why can’t they announce the UK price with all the others. I would accept it more if the only released the US price at E3 seeing as its in America but putting yen and euro but no £ is stupid.
carson321
exactly!

I think its because of the exchange rates…. I’m not really sure about that
