If CVG and VG247 are to be believed, the PlayStation Vita won’t arrive on European store shelves until early 2012. This is what many had predicted after Jack Tretton’s hurried claims that the aim was global availability in fiscal 2011, making the handheld available before the end of March 2012.
Apparently Sony are still aiming for a pre-Christmas launch in North America and we’d be surprised to see it released later than that in Japan. So it seems that it’s only the PAL regions being allowed to slip to calendar 2012.
The projected EU price that most retailers are predicting for the purposes of securing those early pre-orders is £239/£289 or €249/€299 but so far, only the US price of $249/$299 has been confirmed.
So, who’s importing then?

I wasn’t expecting it in Europe until sometime in the spring so neither my wallet nor myself are upset by this news.

IMPORT! But this has really hacked me off. I simply do not understand in today’s world why Sony clearly cant release on a single day worldwide. And they wonder why people view them simply as series of departments rather than a single company?!? THIS is why for christs sake. Grrr!!
