Bungie Reveals “Aerospace”

Bungie has revealed the much-rumoured Aerospace project, finally. It’s the first stage of a brand new venture for the developers, created to help indies build “brilliant mobile and social games.”

The press release says the project will give studios the “creative freedom and the resources they need, like access to the Bungie.net platform and an audience with the incredible Bungie community, to launch their entertainment experiences into orbit”.

“Bungie has always been passionate about making and playing great games, regardless of platform,” said Pete Parsons, Bungie COO. “Bungie Aerospace will allow us to explore game creation in multiple formats with some amazingly talented teams. Now that we’ve returned to our roots as an independent studio, we are in a position to launch Bungie Aerospace to support, foster, and elevate like-minded, independent developers.”

The first project is with Seattle-based Harebrained Schemes, whose first game will be Crimson (you might have heard us mention that recently) set to launch this summer on iOS and Android.

  1. Wait… So Bungie are a publisher now?

    • That’s what it sounds like to me.

      • Indies come to Bungie, get support and big name, Bungie take a nice slice of profits. Bungie are the new Activision, run for your lives! :D

      • Hardly, Bungie actually have a passion for development. Activision just want developers to design cash cows and keep milking the crud from them.

  2. oh Bungie u crazyyyyyyy

    make a video game.

  3. That statement just broke the all-time high score on bullshit bingo. I think they need to become more customercentric. to get a little more face-time etc.

    • Surely anyone can see, what they really need to do is synergize customer’s core competencies through reimplementing and repurposing mission-critical proactive benchmarks for high leverage.

    • Translation please :)

      • Means he just broke the new high score

  4. Eh? They stopped Halo for this? I thought it was going to be a new game. I don’t want mobile and social games, I’m not social and my mobile only has snake and tetris, can’t handle anything else. PAH.

    • Bungie’s new game is still in development. This is just something extra. Like how Valve developed the Steam system while simultaneously developing actual games.

  5. Facebook games? jesus wept..

  6. Bungie take another step towards world domination.
