Here’s an announcement that nobody ever expected. NetherRealm Studios has revealed that Mortal Kombat’s mystery kombatant is none other than everyone’s favorite mass murderer, Freddy Krueger. This is so ridiculous that it’s actually kind of awesome!
Unfortunately, this version of Freddy seems to be based on his recent appearance from the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. It’s a bit of a shame since Robert Englund’s portrayal of the character is so iconic. Regardless, Freddy looks to be quite the opponent.
There’s something oddly appropriate about seeing Kabal and Freddy standing next to each other. Although, I must say, it doesn’t make sense why they showed Scorpion being burnt to death.
