Codemasters Talk Bodycount

Codemasters have posted a Q&A session with Bodycount’s Game Director, Andy Wilson, on their community site and he has answered some burning questions.

Andy describes the destructible environment at length, saying that you can ‘drill through that stuff to get through to your opponent.’ However, it’s not just the cover you can blow to itty bitty pieces;

As for enemies, we give you special abilities to help you defeat them. One of those is an explosive strength bullet.

The first level causes the enemies to die in one hit and throws them into a stunt death far into the distance. The second level is a shreddable bullet which makes them disappear almost instantly in a puff-cloud of blood. It’s is a bit grim, but weirdly amusing.

Andy also described the various game modes that will be on offer:

The single player campaign, a score based ‘Bodycount’ mode, and two competitive online modes; ‘Deathmatch’ and ‘Team Deathmatch’. We’ve also got a horde based 2-player coop mode where you fight off waves of AI.

We’ve got lots of different class types like medics, scavengers, and psycho tank characters that have allowed us to construct the waves in different ways to change the pace and difficulty of the game.

Codemasters say there will be no difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions (quelle surprise) and there will be no system exclusive DLC.

We’re going hands on with Bodycount tomorrow, stay tuned, but you can check our earlier hands-on impressions from E3 here!

  1. Undecided. Looking forward to reading your impressions though….

    • so was i, then i read “Codemasters”.

      i’ll give it a miss.

  2. personally decided not to go for this one, as there are so many other games coming out.

  3. The main question: does this game have dismemberment? So far haven’t seen any. Puff clouds of sprite blood should stay where they belong – in 2002.

  4. Codemasters? No thanks.

  5. Isn’t this supposed to be the spiritual successor to Black?

    I enjoyed Black, but this looks nothing like it. I don’t like the name either, I think this one I won’t be buying – reviews pending.
