New Phantasy Star Online 2 Details From SEGA Event

Today SEGA held a press briefing for the gaming publisher’s upcoming online action-RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2, developed by Sonic Team.

The game will feature three playable classes, 12-man instances and a number of reinvigorated gameplay elements, alpha testing commencing in August. Each class including the melee-focused Hunter, distance weapon-specialist Rangers, and magic-user Force will have their own separate progression mechanics as opposed to PSO’s original character levelling.

It has also been revealed that SEGA plans to make Phantasy Star Online 2 a much more action-orientated experience, combo attacks and TPS-style gun-fighting being central gameplay assets.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is currently exclusive to the PC platform without a solid release date. However, those who played the original PSO will know that the game soon extended its reach to the Dreamcast, Xbox, and even Gamecube, the more recent Phantasy Star Universe having also been available on PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360.

  1. If its anything similar to PSP 2 then thats cool, Hope this is 2011 lol

  2. they seem eager to make sure you know the breasts are editable.

how many MMOs specifically mention they have a jump feature? ^_^

anyway, the game does look cool, but a console version would be nice.

  3. 1:29 – Jumping action!

  4. I remember really loving the PSU beta, which they closed only recently, funnily enough. I loved the lobbies and world areas, they were designed really well and had great audio, although they look rather dated currently. If I had Windows and time to spend, I would be very interested in it.

  5. Want. So much.
I love the PSO franchise. Played ep. 1 & 2 like it was the only game available, ever.
