Namco Bandai Adopt ‘Single Save’ For 3DS Release

Last month we reported that Capcom had removed the ability to delete saved games on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, a move that rather annoyed Alex.

Wired have posted their review of Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions from Namco Bandai and have noted that, like Monkey Ball 3DS and Resident Evil, you cannot delete your save data.

There is no high score board and when you finish the game it overwrites your score with the latest total.  The game also features an achievements system so anyone who trades in the game will do so with the virtual trinkets unlocked.

  1. at this rate, i’ll never buy another game new, ever again.

    • You could always take up Golf instead, right?

  2. While this odesn’t affect me directly, as i purchase all my games (especially hand held games , as they are cheaper) new, it does suck. I have 2 sons that i’ll be getting 3DS for on christmas and this could be a problem then. A lot of the games that they have for their DS’s, they only have one copy of, except for the games that require multiple copies for multiplayer.

I’m usually all for devs/pubs doing things to try and promote new sales over used (i.e online pass, pre-order bonuses etc) but this does really punish those who purchase new as well.

It won’t stop me from purchasing these games (don’t see the point in depriving myself or my kids of something that we want) and it wont stop me from purchasing a Vita if this was to become the standard for hand helds, but it is a bit dissapointing. I just hope the games are good. I bought Mercinaries 3D and that’s the one 3DS game that i have that i’d actually consider trading in. All the games that have it so far seem to be sub-par, maybe the devs/pubs know that the games are shit and are trying to kill the trade in value.

  3. What happens when you finnishh the game and want a second playthrough?
