Meet the Reader: YOURMUMANDME

You’ve covered plenty of genres, then! Do you have a particular favourite that you’ll always look out for? Or are you into Polygamy? Sorry for that awful pun.

My sexual desires know no boundaries!

I honestly don’t anymore, I was and always have been a devout follower of Final Fantasy but since ‘X’ they’ve all been rubbish. I love a good RPG, though, and when I had a Master System I was never off Golden Axe Warrior and since then I’ve been hooked. Also Shooty-shooty-boom-boom games, I’m awful at them but I love an adventure and guts strewn environment. I get the feeling I’ll be straight back into Final Fantasy when Versus comes out though. That game has me frothing at the unmentionable.

A bit of diversity never hurt anyone. Speaking of upcoming games, there’s a shedload of top titles in the back quarter of this year. Any you’re looking forward to more than the others?

Skyrim and Uncharted 3. I can’t wait for those two. I’ve also been eagerly waiting for a new The Elder Scrolls game to come out for too long now, even downloaded Daggerfall to keep my urges back. Couldn’t get the damn DosBox to work though so I had to leave it.

As for Uncharted, the only thing I have to say about that game is that it’s pronounce ‘un-char-ted’ not ‘un-char-tered’. You all know who you are. Shame on you.

Who on earth pronounces it like that?

Them over the Atlantic! I jest.

I’m still on the Battlefied/Modern Warfare fence too, I will get one just not sure yet.

Silly Americans. Before we move along, any embarrassing games, guilty pleasures, and generally bad stuff you’ve played and are willing to admit to?

Um, Leisure Suit Larry?  Also Armoured Core, where I was bedazzled with Japanese imagination. The Family Guy game was a bad one too, what a total let down that was. Wasn’t even funny at all.

How did you stumble across the good ship TSA?

Like almost everyone I’ve read it was when trophy lists became availabe so it was over 3 years ago, I had been hunting for them and found two sites, TSA and Ps3Trophies, or something. At the time, TSA took a bit of a back seat as the other site was all singing, all dancing and looked prettier. After a while and because I had my own net in my own house I started to browse TSA’s content.

The reason I signed up? cc_star was bad mouthing Final Fantasy or something and I decided to “debate” with him. Bad idea for a first time commenter! If you’re reading this and new to the site, let cc_star say anything he wants, he’s right. If you do have the mis-fortune of being on the wrong end of the stick, give him a Werthers and a tummy rub. Even to this day TSA has been the only gaming site I visit daily. Like the toilet, only dirtier.

I’ve had some entertaining discussions with cc… They can last a while! So what is it that keeps you coming back, day in and out?

TSA isn’t really just about the content posted by writers, the other members and, dare I say it, friends that post valid, well thought, entertaining and hilarious stuff is by far what keeps me coming back the most. As for cc, he is a massive help with any tech stuff you need answered. Between yourself, cc and Jas-n I reckon you could make a mech. Like a metal beast of war, honestly I do!

We could be like the Power Rangers! Are there any front page features that you always look out for?

The OMM podcast, although i have about 3/4 to catch up on. Meet the Staff and Meet the Reader too, of course! I like reading what the first thing new staff write too. I’m like an over protective father sometimes, giving the new name at the top an akward glare but always smiling at the end.

[drop]

God help your actual offspring. Have you had fun in any of our TSA competitions?

I won a Ninjamurai code! That game is hard and nothing but hard!

Most of them I try to enter because they’re fun, the Dead Rising comp was a favourite. I heard some beautiful, talented guy made a sweepstake a while back as part of the forums’ hand in competitions. What I’d do to sleep with that guy…

Break out the Rohypnol! Along similar lines, is there a TSA member you’d actually dare to meet in real life?

All of them. I had EGX planned out but I ended using that money to go to T in the Park instead. Didn’t mean to, but at £7 a burger and £4 a pint I was destined to be penniless. I genuinely count about a half dozen of the TSA members as proper friends and will meet them one day, that leaves that question open to imagination.

I’m sure quite a few people will have sleepless nights from that. What do you do with your time when you’re not gaming or on TSA?

I just party. Lots.

I do whatever I can if I’m honest, most of the time I just spend looking for new and interesting things. I love anime/manga, and I like researching the web, a weird yet compelling OCD like activity. I used to BMX and do acting (not professionally), go clubbing (for seals). A lot of time is spent with my family though, plenty for them to see and do too! But yeah, booze… I like it.

Fulfilling the stereotypes, then. What’s your tipple of choice?

37.5% and above. Oh, and Stella.

Naturally! And how exactly do you research the web, out of interest?

With a box of tissues or a used sock… Nah, just seeing a new word or thing, and ‘Googling’.

Um, lets swiftly move along to the anime/manga! Any particular recommendations you have?

Everything, I mean it, it’s only bad if you don’t like it.

Me? Personally? I’ve not had much experience with Anime, really… Akira is the one that sticks out for me. Love that film from top to bottom.

Not you, Kaneda perve! The readers!

His bike is so cool! Wait, did you just break the fourth wall? That never ends well…

To name a few that might not be well known  Space Adventure Cobra, High School of the Dead, Perfect Blue, Samurai Seven… Ah there’s too many. Go watch some.

Are you talking to me again yet? Well, we’re at the point where I ask you Snog, Civil Partnership, Smother for ColossalBlue, Lewis Gaston, Halbpro?

Eh? I should be so lucky… Smother as in like, a pillow smother? OK.

I’d Snog Kris, just to see a puzzled look on his face. Partner with Lewis, as he has plenty of films to watch while we snuggle. And I’d smother Peter, (if I could, he’s a friggin giant) so I could inherit OMM and take over the multi-billion empire, and his iPad.

They are pretty easy to lust after. We’ve come to the end of my list of questions, so do you have any final words for the readers?

Die! I mean bye!

Thanks to Russel for coming along and sitting down for an epically long interview! Come along next week, kids, for another interview.

  1. I do like these features, great to find out more about the people behind the amusing screen names!

  2. A much better username for you would’ve been yourmumandme, sittinginatree,k,I,s,s,I,n,g though that might have been too many characters.

  3. “I was going to tell you off about that, but I guess I can let you off the hook in that case. Lets move on,…”

    LOL! It’s “let’s”, not lets.

    ;)

  4. Good read :D I also played Pokemon Colosseum for hours, though for some reason, never completed it. Might try and find it, see if I can finally finish it.

    • Me too, might need to have a hunt on eBay soon :D

  5. I absolutely love this guy, barely a funnier person out there and he’s always awesome to talk to in a late night skype chat/call. He also loves to ‘let’ me use his Death Machines on Blop’s :D

    • How do death machines work then ?….I thought they killed you !? *tsk* ;)

      • They work for me as I steal them, then turn them on the zombies. Simples ;)

  6. hehe nice read, i have always wondered where u got ur screenname from..=) and now i am satisfied… *satisfiedface*
havn’t really encountered u so much on this site… are u avoiding me!?? :P

    • Yes.
….no I’m not really. There’s a lot of people I just haven’t had the chance to ever speak to properly in the forums or Twitter. Dr Nate, SpikeyMikey and yourself would be a few of many. TBH I barely get time IRL to speak to people ! :D
So yeah, anyway, Hello ! :)

      • *waves* hi =)
yeahh, since i dont have either facebook or twitter it’s only here u can talk to me really, except on the PS3=)
but it’s always nice to make new friends.. i hope that i can call u friend?? or is it YOURMUMANDME? MYMUMANDYOU?!!?
        now i’m confused… :P

      • Should I dare ask about your username …? or is there ‘junk in your trunk’ ? ;)

      • MadJunkBoy’s origin can be found in his own MtR from a fortnight ago. Check out the related stories thingy. :)

      • Yeah just read through it actually, hope you wash regularly now Carl ?? :P

      • yup, always gives him a nice wash now and then :P
just to keep him happy in atleast 15 minutes… =)
my record is 27 minutes and 19 seconds i think it was…
but when i came up with my username i didn’t think it would turn out to be so damn funny =)

  7. I have respect for cc_star, I also debated a little with him at first but now i’m happy to sit back and watch others do it :)
And you’re one of the ‘faces’ i can remember on here from my first visits to TSA Russel, often making me laugh so it’s nice to finally meet you.

    • I’d like to respect CC_Star but I can’t, not until he recognises that sometimes other people can be right as well. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he comes across as just thinking he’s right all the time to me. Meh, I’m just a moaning bastard, I can’t say anything :P

    • TSA is an awesome place, everyone makes me smile, almost everyone anyway ! :D

  8. Always nice to find out there are more Scottish folk on TSA. *waves hello*

    • I sometimes think that TSA is 95% Scottish..

      • I might start to pick up a scottish accent to try and blend in a bit better.

      • Not until you meet me.

      • @ tef & Manor – lol
@ BIGAL – that sounds ominous.

      • For the record, I’m irish, with a london accent. The comment was meant to be a reply to Tef.

      • There are more Scottish accents on TSA meets than errr… non-Scottish ones.

      • I wouldn’t say it was biased though ;)

    • No bad min ! *Waves*

      • whit

      • Eh’ll heh a peh, a bridee an an ingin ane anah !

      • I’ll have a pint, a birdy, and an engine out of pineapple?

      • More like:
I’ll have a pie, a bridie and an onion one as well.

    • All of the Scottish people that I’ve met via TSA have been cracking lads/lasses….more needed! ;)
Good to see you back YM, can’t recall seeing you in here for a while, but life happens and those Stellas won’t drink themselves :P

      • Yay to Scottish ^^
Hey YMAM nice to know a bit about you.

  9. How do you do, young gent.

Good read and it’s always great learning a little about members around here, especially ones like yourself who feel very much part of the fabric of TSA.
Can’t say I’ve made your acquaintance to often except for a few partially inebriated messages here and there on PSN. :D

And yes, ChuChu Rocket! is totally awesome. *quite literally waves at the computer*

    • I can remember the conversations on PSN ! :D

      • I can’t. Haha! I found them the next day and thought “oh dear”. :D

  10. Another good read. Always good to learn more about people, especially ones as entertaining as YMAM.
