Not a lot needs to be said. EA showed off Battlefield 3 co-op, which looks impressive on the PS3. Then they showed this trailer on the PC, which made the PS3 version look very ordinary simply by virtue of the fact that the high end PC footage is incredible.

Haha, just what I thought. I can’t even control a helicopter in BFBC2, so trying to fly a jet in BF3 will be… interesting :) I also got the “roadkill with a helicopter” trophy by accident, when I tried to steal an Apache from the defending team but couldn’t control it. I crashed after about 3 seconds and somehow landed directly on an enemy :P

I never mentioned MW3 because I didn’t want to start a war. My point was, what does this do differently from BF3 to capture the old players to upgrade? I think BF3 is based on an evolution of BFBC series and they’ve neglected to mention the difference from BF2.

But in response to your question, this is the first ‘proper’ battlefield to grace a PS3, so excitement is high regardless.
I know i’ll b picking this up though, as i love BC2 & i just see this as an enhanced version with additional features. That’s enough for me. :)

Granted, single player which I’m really looking forward to. A new engine isn’t the highest priority when the idea of a game is just to shoot people. New engines just drive technology development rather than gameplay. I don’t doubt driving a tank through a building will be great fun.
The gameplay isn’t going to change much because DICE have tried and tested formula but they haven’t explained much. Just very pretty trailers of stuff blowing up. Nothing about game modes and game mechanics.

TDM is in, to take away K/D players from the objective kind. Although, heaven knows why. K/D players go into objective game modes because they know they will get a tonne of kills while people try and actually play the objective. Rush and Conquest is back too.

I do agree that gameplay over graphics is the right ethos, but considering they pretty much have had gameplay nailed since BF2, with some tinkering in the Bad Company series(Good and bad tinkering, mind) I think they can afford to put some more effort into making the game look brilliant.
I think I also read somewhere that there’s no Commander mode :(

K/D players, I can appreciate one or two as it’s
easier to get the objective done with them
stopping the other team defending but not a team
full of them with one objective player.

@HoboCastro: What do you expect. Pretty much every sequel out there fits into your “why bother” description. It’s a natural progression. Why do you think people buy a new Fifa game every year? It’s the same players playing for different teams. :P

To be honest I agree with him, the trailer doesn’t show anything new other than some slightly shinier graphics so it’s quite reasonable to not be interested. If anyone is trolling it’s the one who blindly defends a game using the fact they’ve played it a lot as a reason for doing so.
