Sony To Cut PS3 Price Tonight?

We saw retailers giving discounts earlier today but now we’re hearing more and more anecdotal evidence that a price cut is going to be announced at Sony’s conference this evening in Germany.

The figure looks like it will be around €239 for the 320GB model which we assume will drop to £199 in the UK. That could bring the 160GB model down to under €200 and possibly as low as £150, if retailers choose to squeeze it as much as possible.

With stacks of consoles being marked down already, the price cut announcement, if it comes, is likely to be one of those “effective immediately” things. We’ll keep you informed of anything official as we hear it.

  1. good news I think for all gamers. With BF3 and MW3 and plenty more exclusives such as UC3, this could be great for Sony.

  2. Best lower the price of getting one fixed too.

  3. There’s a deal for 320GB PS3 with either Infamous 2 or Move Starter Pack for 215 GBP on Amazon at the moment: http://amzn.to/qRPVXj Quite a deal I must say!

  4. Cheap as chips, prob not as £150 but close is good, must tell my friend, she wants one for cheap

  5. If it really dropped to £150 for the 160gb model, the PS3 would sell like hotcakes.

    • I’m worried I’d get caught up in the hype and buy 3. :S

  6. Alright… good news for consumers =)

Just bought another PS3 a few months ago, so it’s a no go for me.

  7. If they dropped the price then surely the extra sales/profit could be used to shave a few quid off the Vita? Use one to support the other maybe.

  8. That’s under a quid a gigabyte, is that even legal?!

  9. well tesco and amazon have already dropped em down to £210 with a game

  10. 249 Euros ;)

    • That’s RRP, I’m sure it will be below 200 GBP in a couple of days.
