The PlayStation 3 was notoriously challenging to develop for. In its early life, developers struggled to produce multiplatform games for the PS3 that matched the quality of Xbox 360 versions.
Thankfully for developers and also gamers, Sony appears to have learnt from the past. WipEout 2048 Game Director Stuart Tilley from Sony Liverpool claims that they managed to get a running WipEout title for the handheld quicker than when working on previous PlayStation platforms:
“I think of all the PlayStations I’ve worked on, which is actually all of them, it’s the easiest one to work with. The guys have given us a really good set of tools, allowing us to get up and running a lot quicker than we have previously, which is really good.”
Dev kits for the system are also cheaper than the PSP’s which, combined with the easier developing, will make developers very happy indeed, and hopefully will encourage more to come on board. More developers means more games for us gamers to spend our cash on!

The thing I liked about the PS3 was the games each year got better and better as the developers worked hard to learn the PS3 OS.
Look at the 360, it was easy to make games for and its power is 99% maxed out already.
