Dead Rising 2: Off The Record Has A Sandbox Mode

Capcom has announced that Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will feature a sandbox mode. This mode lets you explore the various areas of Fortune City, including the new Uranus Zone, without dealing with that annoying time limit. There’s also a bunch of challenges to complete scattered all throughout the city.

The trailer below should give you a good idea of what to expect.

  1. lol Uranus zone.

    Sorry couldn’t resist

  2. Could they not have patched this into the original Dead Rising 2?

    • Do you mean the entire game itself? That would probably be pretty large. It’s a retelling of the second game from the perspective of Frank West instead of Chuck Greene. It fixes things people complained about and adds new content.

    • Maybe like DMC 3: SE but more focus on the new playable character?

  3. The whole time limit inclusion was a stupid move. I know some people still love DR2 but for me it was close to being a complete mess.

    • I liked DR2, but the time limit was what kept it from being an awesome game.

  4. I like image 4 lol

  5. I wish they removed the time limit and offered a fully-open sandbox mode where you could play as long as you like. You’re always rushing for time in the Dead Rising series, yet they are games that would benefit most from being able to free roam/kill zombies in your own time.

Either way, I’m a big fan of Dead Rising, so I will still buy this game anyway.

    • The time limit is a key part of the series though. I’m happy they are including both, so you can enjoy the story and then partake in mindless zombie killin’!

      • DrNate86 is right, without the time limit the game would be too easy and probably get a bit boring. The tension of the time limit is what defines this series. You can already ignore the quests and mess around for a whole playthrough (8 real-life hours) if you want to.

  6. Totally forgot about dead rising….

  7. i wonder when/if they’re going to link the dead rising games to the resident evil universe.

they’ve got to do a crossover at some point, right?

  8. This whole time thing is the reason I don’t play dead rising anymore. I gotta rush to get to the shelter while in the meantime I got to convince some posh granny to come with me, and she does’nt move an inch, while zombies close in by the hundreds.
In the time they conjured up this version they could’ve made a new Dead Rising and kill the stupid time limit alltogether. It’s not like you have to watch one clock, no, most of the time you’re watching four or five, cause you want to do all the side quests too.

Stupid Dead Rising, I hate you!
