Minecraft will release on Android devices this Thursday, September 29th.
The news comes from the Twitter account of Daniel Kaplan, a member of developer Mojang.
The video shows the controls for the Pocket Edition of Minecraft and it looks pretty impressive. A release date for an iOS version is yet to be announced.

I have it on my Xperia PLAY, it’s a shame that it doesn’t have all the tools of the PC version.
Still a great game nonetheless.

…just a create mode for the moment. Minecraft PE is being overseem ny Mojang but being developed by another complany. I did find out who, but a quick google should bring that info up.

Eden on iOS has had a revolutionary update recently too, just saying :D
Actually, anyone tried Mooncraft on iOS yet ? Is it any good ?

Hurrah! A ‘portable gaming’ story which doesn’t lead on Apple.

Heh, tell me about it

So when’s it coming to the iPhone?

I hope it will be tablet compatible. A tablet specific HD version would be even better… *dreams on*

And while I’m dreaming… Game controller compatibility would also be sweet…

Hope it comes to the iPhone.

Ok just to make this clear for me , is this is a release for Android phones (HTC , Samsung , Motorola etc etc) as opposed to a version only for the Xperia Play thats been out some time already ?
If so thats brilliant news as i only briefly tried Minecraft on my PC and it was fun . Some of the things built on YT are out of this world . Some guy built a 1:1 scale model of the Starship Enterprise !! and someone else did the same with the Titanic .

Yes, across all Android phones.

i don’t think you’ll be seeing large scale constructions like that originating from a touch screen version of minecraft.
hazelam
a small screen like that is just too cramped for something like that if you have to play with a touch screen.
maybe a tablet or ipad version would be better, but even then you still have the problem of your thumb getting in the way of the screen.
i’d rather stick with the pc version, or wait for the xbox or ps3 version.
though a vita version would be sweet.

I’m still begging for this on PSN..
