Free OnLive Console With Batman Arkham City Pre-order

Cloud gaming service, OnLive, is offering a free Micro Console to anyone who pre-orders Batman Arkham City for the platform.

Arkham City is priced at £39.99 on the service but that price is slashed to £27 for those who have signed up to the Onlive Playpack Package (£6.99 per month.)

Those who already have an OnLive Micro Console aren’t left high and dry either, thankfully. You can opt to receive a free game instead of a console and will receive a code that will be e-mailed to you once you pre-order Arkham City.

  1. I can see it working but i’m still not sold on the idea of cloud gaming as i prefer to own the physical copy of a game when possible. Plus, it is a greedy thing that eats up 2GB per hour which will annoy any ISP. And i would not be happy if the thing disconnected as i am about to beat the game.

  2. Gah! I don’t know what to think about this, I’m interested in Batman:AC, but I’ve always been skeptical about cloud gaming, but also heard that playing via the micro console is much better than via PC.. If they threw in a Steam/PS3 version as well, I’d sign up in a second, but a £40 investment in a technology that I’ve always between suspicious of…. What to do, what to do..

  3. I received my Micro Console yesterday which I got free with the Saints Row 3 pre-order. I have to say that I was very impressed with the build quality. For some reason I thought it was going to be cheap and tacky. Even the box and the packaging were well done!

For those that might be interested, in the box you get: Micro Console & power pack, 1 x wireless controller with both a rechargable battery pack and an AA battery pack (with 2 AA Duracells), Mico USB cable for controller syncing and charging, HDMI lead & Network patch lead.

I hooked it up this morning and tested it briefly. It looked very good on my son’s 23″ 720p TV.
