Following on from our news earlier regarding the February 22nd release date for PlayStation Vita, Sony Europe has just confirmed the pricing for the UK.
“Available from £229.99 (RRP) for the Wi-Fi model and £279.99 (RRP) for the 3G/Wi-Fi model, PS Vita will offer uncompromised portable gaming experiences, anytime, and anywhere,” says the press release.
The statement confirms that there are over 80 games in production, including LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout 2048, Resistance, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, FIFA and Call of Duty.

Bit too pricey for me, but if a retailer does a good bundle with games like Assassins Creed and COD, I don’t think I’ll be able to resist. I think it will quickly add up with all the extras like the memory cards etc. Probably going to end up being way too expensive for me :(

A bit steep, even for the WiFi version (You have to remember you have to factor in the price of a memory stick and a couple of games aswell). When it reaches about £150 is when I’ll think about getting one.

The games are usually more in the US than what we pay in the UK so, depending haw many games you buy, it normally works out cheaper for us in the long run.

£199 would have been the sweet spot pricing I think (which in turn would mean that you might be able to get it some where for around £190/£180). Just seems too near the price of a PS3. I am thinking about it though…

yep, sub £200 would’ve been much, much smarter. I’m holding out till there’s a model with removable battery.

There probably won’t be- it was the easiest way for PSPs to be hacked.
PSP Go went with the non-removable battery to combat it. It’s not foolproof, as the iPhone proves, but it’s a start.

Pre ordered mine already time ago, am not bothered about the price, I have every sony gadget ps1, ps2, ps3, psp its only right i had this to my collection. £250 is on par with ps3 price, I got mine 250 at HMV. I will get the wifi only due to the fact it don’t come with a game.
Wonder if it comes with demos?

It won’t be free.
I’m fairly sure it isn’t free in Japan, although there is at least one network offering pre-pay 3G access which is charged per hour instead of data, hopefully the same kind of deal is extended by networks worldwide.

Hopefully there will be game bundles. Ideally I want to pick up a Vita AND Uncharted: Golden Abyss. As for the other games I will probably demo them from the store and choose a few I like.
