Way back at E3 earlier this year, Sony announced that PlayStation 3 copies of Battlefield 3 would come with a free copy of Battlefield 1943. That offer seems to have been quietly withdrawn.
PlayStation 3 copies of EA’s latest blockbuster shooter (we’re still waiting to hear if review code exists, worryingly) don’t seem to have the historical freebie anywhere in sight.
The Battlefield Twitter account has tried to claim that the recently announced week-long PlayStation 3 exclusivity deal for DLC is in lieu of the promised free game but that was announced at the end of September without reference to the now-removed 1943.
Do you care that you’re not getting the content you were promised? Is an extra week of DLC access on the PS3 really equivalent to a whole free game packed in?
I’m not sure that people will miss Battlefield 1943 too much with the multiplayer side of Battlefield 3 at their disposal but I do think that both EA and Sony should have been more up front and transparent about the removal of the offer.
Thanks, Erroneus

I’ve already got it, but I’m sure or people won’t be too fussed.. Because hey! You’ve got Battlefield 3 to play with!

It seems every ps3 game that comes out this site & others try & find something wrong to moan about & make the ps3 look bad Zzzzzzzz
BIGAL-1992
TSA was originally a PS3 only site, so they report on PS3 news more often then the other consoles.
SpikeyMikey23
if its making you Zzzzzz, how do you have the time to create an account to comment on the very issue? ;)

Well it’s not exactly a PS3 exclusive, it’s multi-format. It just so happens that the issue with the game is with the PS3 version.
As for the “trying to make PS3 look bad” argument which keeps cropping up now and again, we’re not bashing the PS3 at all by reporting the maintenance and issues such as this one (which is more about EA than Sony/PS3). We report the positive and negative news, why wouldn’t we?
When you feel a website cant mention such things without it being “having a moan at PS3 games” then I’m afraid that’s your point of view mixed up in the nonsense of the internet flame wars making you see everything that isn’t positive about Sony as though it is bashing it.

I didn’t know they were planning to include this in BF3. I already own 1943 but it’s still a dick move for people who were actually thinking they would get the free copy. I couldn’t care less about timed exclusive DLC anyways. Wait one week in exchange for a free game? Easyest descission of my life.
enroene
Why would Sony and EA do that.Just explain to everyone what has happened it doesn’t matter if you care less about the inclusion of 1943.Fact is they said it was to be included.
carson321
been playing 1943 a lot recently, brilliant game, nothing more satisfying than taking out a tank with a bomb while zooming past, but to be honest, i had completely forgot they even promised such a thing, maybe due to me already owning it and not paying as much attention though
D-Nichol
not bothered because I already have BF1943 however i think its poor to announce it so late as alot of people will have pre-ordered on that basis and now will be to late to cancel the pre-order
david24
i was planing on buying this until i heard they were giving it away with bf3. I’m actually quite disappointed now, would of been nice when i felt like taking a break from battlefield 3 :(
cnutard
Doesn’t affect me as I bought it ages ago, but very sneaky and despicable to not make sure you inform your customers. What do we expect though? It is EA after all.

This is either a cockup or EA being EA. You don’t offer something and then silently take it back. If i were to offer you an extra bag of chips with that pizza and then ate the chips, you would be p*ssed off.
I hope EA will explain this soon as there seems to be a rise in gaming cockups.

The Battlefield site is saying the same thing.
