Silicon Knights Confirms Layoffs, Returning To Roots

Yesterday rumours were about that Silicon Knights had cut staff numbers.  Well, Silicon Knights have confirmed there have been layoffs but not as much as the 75% of staff that some were saying.

Mike Mays, Chief Financal Officer of Silicon Knights confirmed the layoffs and said that staff numbers were now “just under 40”.  The layoffs were due to a project that got cancelled which “resulted in us having too many people so we had to do a layoff.”

Silicon Knights had recently completed work on X Men Destiny. Another staff member commented in a separate interview saying “the company is currently refocusing and returning to its roots, working on one of its most requested titles for the next generation.”

Silicon Knights were developers of ‘Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain’ & ‘Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem.’

  1. I feel like SK have gone the way of Rare. they used to make great games with the limitations of the N64 now they’re having trouble producing the same quality… its a shame…
Although I’d love to see an Eternal Darkness sequel…..

  2. So it could be Blood Omen?, I’m sure that would’ve been the most requested (but then they’d need to get the rights… unless they get the game published under Square?)

Would be brilliant to see a new Legacy of Kain game. The story still holds up to the best in this very day, imo.

  3. it would be churlish to say they deserved it for giving pixie an american accent. ~_^

    only kidding.

seriously though, it’s a shame, but if their games were better i don’t think this would be happening.

that said, i did enjoy too human, i’ve played much worse games believe me, and i’d like to play the x-men game.

  4. Wasn’t eternal darkness meant to be really good? That was a Gamecube game no? I’m sure a re-release/sequel would go down well
