Final Fantasy Type 0 has sold nearly 500,000 in its first week of sales.
FF Type-0 released on PSP in Japan on October 27th in the same week as Kirby Wii and Idolmaster 2. FF Type 0 sold more copies than the other 2 titles combined, making the game one of PSP’s most succesful titles on launch.
Hajime Tabata, Director of FF Type 0, says of the game:
“The main concept of Type-0′s story was a group of youngsters caught up in a war between countries. That, along with the concept of “the weight of life” and the Fabula mythos, is the foundation of the plot. I think everyone will unleash their hatred towards death as the plot unfolds.
Creative Director, Tetsuya Nomura who has worked on many Final Fantasy games said in an interview:
“This is the first time in the series’ history with so many leading characters and so many voice actors. That’s because, the story was crafted on a character-by-character basis. If we had only given voices to the main characters, then the impact of the sub characters would have diminished–that’s why we decided to give them wonderful voice actors as well.”
There is still no news of a release in the West though, apparently, Square Enix is working on bringing Final Fantasy Type 0 to an international audience.
