Skyrim Update On The Way

Bethesda has confirmed that all systems will be receiving an update for Skyrim, ironing out bugs that have been reported. Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing, Pete Hine, said the following on Twitter:

“We are continuing to work on an update for all platforms to address any bugs and [performance] issues we can. We will fix as much as we can for your platform. I don’t know if it will fix ‘your’ bug. Takes a while to test/fix/regress. Hang in there.”

No release date has been announced for the patch. Has anyone come across any particularly amusing/annoying bugs?

  1. I couldn’t marry Lydia. My heart is broken :(

  2. I’ve not had any glitches/bugs like you guys have described yet, but it has crashed on me once. Bar a few technical mishaps, I’ve been quite lucky so far.

  3. I think I win the biggest bug so far. After installing and pressing start the Bethesda logo would appear and then get cut short as my character fell through the floor and died haha. Tried several times but always the same so deleted and re-installed the game file and has been almost perfect since. Except one enemy who hit me when I was in a cave and I fell through the wall into the dungeon below.

  4. I had a heart sinking moment last night, thinking it had crashed when I entered a cave, but it thankfully appears it just takes yonks to autosave.

  5. Been playing both versions, PS3 version crashed when talking to blacksmith in Riverdale, been ok since, if a bit (ok a lot) laggy in places. 6 hours on PS3 save so far.
Bethesda said this was a new engine, but apparently it’s the same one they used for NV just tweaked a bit. They couldn’t/wouldn’t fix that…
PC version otoh (after the sound thing) runs sweet as here,no noticeable lag and really quick area transitions around 20 hours on that save. I know I could just play it on PC but strangely I prefer this on PS3, trophies and lack of of console cheats make it a longer-lived game – barring game-ending crashes :(

  6. Hopefully Bethesade will fix all the bugs as from what i have heard, there doesn’t seem to be that many compared to Bethesade’s other games. :)

    • Well, not as game breaking at least.

    • Mammoth breaking.

      • Maybe it was a software glitch that caused teheir extinction?

  7. The only issue I had was one of the early quests was to go to a location on top of a mountain. It took me an hour to find the way up. After finding the base of the mountain trail inhabited by giants I walked up to one of them to talk to it thinking it might be an interactive character only for it to kill me with 1 swipe.
    Absolutely love this game……

    • I can just picture that scenario,
“Um excuse me Mr Giant, which way to the top of the mountain?”……….. SMASH. :)

  8. Maybe they could fix the vanishing of Aela, turned into bones by a dragon…. and Lyida… vanished in the streams of auto-save.

Can’t get anyone to follow me or even continue getting companion quests.

  9. I had one arrow stuck in my thigh and another in my torso that wouldn’t vanish for ages, it looked really lame, but then i got shot in the head with another arrow and they disappeared!

  10. Yeah had a few little bugs the only problems I’ve been getting are some crashes.
