As we get closer to Christmas, I start to take a greater interest in what’s coming up on the digital stores. I always like to have a nice downloadable game on my hard disk to relax with when everyone else is sleeping off their alcohol and mince pies.

[drop2]XBLA got Joe Danger SE (review later today) and Sonic CD today and next week’s EU PSN is getting Stranger’s Wrath so there’s some competition hotting up!

There are some more full games coming to the PSN today with DiRT 3 and Dead Island both getting slightly-too-expensive digital releases. The funniest joke this week, though, is the price tag on Need for Speed: The Run. Go on, look at it and try not to laugh.

  1. Is that currency symbol the right way round on NFS? Looks like it should be €69.99, rather than £.

    Is that a typo or do they really expect £69.99 for it??

    • Should be £39.99.

    • Wouldn’t even pay anything or even play it, Need for Speed is so annoying these days… KILL IT… make a new fresh game with the developers and… Burnout >.>

      • they can charge the £49.99 because that is the RRP. Shops sell at £39.99 to make sure they can sell the copies they have.

    • not a typo, it’s almost impossible to hit the € sign by accident. It is a mistake though, they got the Euro and Sterling prices switched around. But £50 is still quite silly.

      Price amended above to reflect the mistake :)

    • It makes me laugh especially when I’ve just bought Rayman (PS3) for £22 from Shopto, bargain!

  3. Battlefield 3 – Physical Warfare Pack – Cool, another freebie for those who pre-ordered! :D

    • What is it?

      Haven’t heard anything about it to this point!

    • We already have this if we have the Limited Edition?

    • I thought I had this from the begining, wasn’t it early or limited access to a few guns/attachments – I know I had a silenced pistol for some preorder bonus or DLC.

      • We all had it just 2 or 3 weapons and we still have them (Go to Soldier and when you scroll along weapons and a padlock appears keep scrolling there are in the middle of the weapon list)

      • Oh I see, thanks. I was just a bit confused (easily done) since there is no price against it above. Is it now free for everyone else then?

      • I definitely don’t have the DAO12 unlocked. I have the limited edition.

        Don’t use LMG’s or snipers much so couldn’t comment on them, but my DAO12 is definitely locked.

      • It’s all very confusing. I think some of the unlocked guns were timed, so you had them unlocked for a little while (possibly). But I also had some guns that were locked for the US but available for the Russians – not played BF3 in a while though to be honest so not sure what the situation is now.

      • the physical warfare pack was available to all who per-ordered in game or gamestaion, it included early access to a couple of guns, some exclusive attachments and the type 88 lmg.

        does anyone know if this pack is available to buy for any one who didn’t pre-order from game? since the type 88 is the last gun I’ve got to unlock.

      • Ah, that would explain it then as i pre-ordered from shopto. I did wonder how one of my friends was using the DAO12 before he hit teh appropriate level… Now i know! :)

        Wonder if it’s a big file? Probably just a 100kb unlock no?

    • Exactly this. Loved the first game oh so many years ago. I’d love if FE2 was next. I picked it up but then got a PS2 and never actually played it. It’s buried in the loft somewhere :'(

      The game was unplayable on PSP when I downloaded it back in the days I had ctf on it (the 2 disk wasnt’t loading)

      Word to the Wise!
      It’s 4 disks big, and it makes heavy use of the trigers so you won’t be able to play it on the PSP without button customization from the PSP-PSX options.

  8. Finally something for me. NFS FTW!!!….. not. I’m gonna try out that goldeneye demo. Hoping it will be bargain bin price in january if its any good

    • I was sadly disappointed with the demo – MP might be okay though.

      • I thought it was just a bit bland – each to their own. I know what you mean though, I’d go Bioshock/Rage/Brink for some alternative FPS.

    • It was roughly £20 the other day at GAME, and considering how rubbish the demo was I wouldn’t be surprised.
