Oh dear… To brighter, happier things, are there any games from the coming year that you’re really looking forward to?
Well I’m going to be missing 4 months of the year gaming wise so going to have quite a bit to catch up on. I’m really looking forward to C&C Generals 2 although not sure when its going to be out. I really enjoyed Awesomenauts when I played it at Eurogamer as well.
It was quite fun, wasn’t it? I like how the two of us won at EGX.
Yeah, wasn’t quite as epic as our attempt at playing the rugby game though.
I can’t even remember who won that match! It was a very high score, anyway.
I remember running into the post and stopping myself from getting a try and have 2 people sent off.
Yes! That was it. I think I may have just squeaked it at the end. Wasn’t a very good game.
It did take forever just to play one half as well before we gave up!
Just imagine if it had gone to 80 minutes!
Would have been longer then the Vita queue.
Speaking of which, are you planning on a Vita this year?
I definitely want one if only for the Uncharted game, to be honest I’ve not really read too much around the other games but will probably pick one up around the summer some time.

You should take a look. It’s one of the strongest launch line ups I can think of.
Would have liked to get one before I go travelling for the flights and bus journeys but it isn’t out in time. I will be taking my PSP though, but only to watch movies or TV shows on. The Vita battery life would be an issue, as well.
You’ve alluded to it enough already, so I guess it’s time to ask. Where on earth are you going for 4 months?
My work have luckily let me take a 4 month career break. I’m flying to Buenos Aires on the 1st February then going to Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador. Then possibly flying to Cartagena and working through Central America, depending on how long I have left!
That sounds awesome. Do you speak any of the languages down that way? Or are you just going to have to repeat stuff slower and louder until they understand?
I speak a very small amount of Spanish, but luckily a friend who is coming with me speaks a decent amount. If not I’ll just repeat words louder, as you said!
Good luck in the Portuguese speaking parts, then. That sounds like one heck of a trip. I bet you can’t wait to be on your way?
Luckily it’s only Brazil that speaks Portuguese, not going to be there for that much either!
Yeah I can’t wait, just 3 weeks at work to get through and I’m done. We’ve booked a few bits like a Machu Picchu 4-day trek, and will be doing a tour of the salt flats in Bolivia, and lots of other stuff as well.
Well I’m sure everyone hopes you have a fantastic time.
Will be strange not having the normal home comforts etc but its something I’ve always wanted to do. When I’m back I’ll have a stack of games to keep me busy catching up with, though.
You’ll have one heck of a Pile of Shame.
Haha! The games will hopefully all be pretty cheap by then as well.
Right, enough about your ridiculously awesome sounding adventure, how did you first come across TSA?
I think it was searching for details of the PS3 store updates, I do remember reading ThreeSpeech before it closed down and they used to do a ‘what we read’ and occasionally linked to TSA and then I kept reading.
Think it was back in ’08, and I joined TSA in the October, scarily that was over 3 years ago now!
Time flies when you’re having fun! Have you got any personal favourite features on TSA? New or old.
Ah this is where people normally say Abridged Too Far, but shockingly I never got round to reading them.
I do like some of the diary things that were posted, also there was a few interviews with developers etc that I think Murdo used to do that were a good read.
Well you’ve nicely segued for me to meeting fellow TSA members. Obviously, you met a fair few at EGX, but were there any that you missed?
Eurogamer was awesome for putting faces to names and getting to meet a few people. Would be nice to meet some of the GT5 gang (Jambo, Tony, Ash, Cam, Tom etc) after a meet almost everyday last week!
Also some of the people I chat to on twitter a lot like CC, Roy, Toutski, Gazo, Spikey to name just a few.
Speaking of GT5, do you have some insanely good internet connection, or something? You hosting is practically the only time we’ve not had a single issue… Do you mind leaving your PS3 on whilst you’re away?
It does seem to be pretty reliable! Its not a super fast connection either, just luck and not living up in the north, I think. I used to get a few issues with a Wi-Fi connection so just ran along ethernet cable to it instead.
There’s nothing wrong with the north at all, really. I love gravy and whippets!
[drop]Nicely covered! We have, sadly, reached the final question. I hope you’ve been dreading it… Snog, Civil Partnership, Smother the three podcast hosts, Peter, Kris and Lewis?
Hmm, I doubt I’d be strong enough to smother Peter so he’d be snog, smother Kris due to him upsetting me over his Uncharted criticisms and then a civil partnership with Lewis!
Although if I snogged Peter I would be worried about him tracking me down.
Peter’s in a weakened state, right now, though. So obviously it’s a “get well soon” kiss?
Hmm if he’s weak he would be easier to smother….
Then it’d be a mercy kill? However, don’t forget that Peter never dies.
He just gets reprogrammed into another body, doesn’t he?
They’re all Cylons anyway, so yeah, pretty much.
That is a scary thought!
And on that delightful note, I think we’ll finish. Do you have any final words for the chaps and chapettes that read this far?
That they deserve a medal for reading this far. As everyone always says, the TSA community is great and pretty unique. I haven’t frequented the forums for a while but add me on twitter or PSN, if you like.
Although not much point in adding me on the PSN for a while!
– Thanks again to Bacon for being happy to do this interview, and I wish him Bon Voyage for his mega-trip to South America!
Origami Killer
Great read there, very funny indeed :) have a great time on your South America voyage. I know what I wan’t for breakfast after reading this, a bacon sandwich. Has to be back bacon, tomato sauce and white bread for me!
Erroneus
Fun stuff :)
And a platinum in Terminator is pretty much the best thing you can get out of that game :)
baconsarnie
Just reading the bacon conversation has made me hungry again!
hazelam
mmmm, bacon sarnie. ^¬^
i don’t butter toast if i’m having bacon on it, tends to make it go soggy.
i played a few levels of Eat Lead, that was that one about the game character Matt Hazzard wasn’t it?
i thought it was ok actually.
not great but something i could have fun with.
the premise was interesting, a game character who’s aware he’s in a game coming out of an enforced retirement after his last game in the 80s, and allowed for a few funny moments, lots of fourth wall breaking.
well, have fun on the trip, you’ll be sending out my medal when you get back i assume. ^_^
CarBoyCam
Bacon sarnies with BBQ are pretty good. ;) But yeah… Mmmm… Bacon… :P
Nice to know a bit about a fellow TSA GT5 racer! :)
SpikeyMikey23
I tend to half and half em. one brown sauce one tommy k. and bbq sauce works great on a bacon sarnie, especially if its jack daniels bbq sauce or maccy d’s bbq sauce.
baconsarnie
Half and half is good, been tempted to try a ketchup and mayo mix!
yiddo
Mayo on a bacon sandwich doesn’t sound like a good mix to me, but we need someone to confirm.
TheDemocrodile
ketchup and mayo equals that weird pink sauce that prawn cocktails come in in restaurants.
Not a good bacon sandwich idea :)
baconsarnie
I’ve had a ketchup/mayo mix on a sausage bap and was nice, kind of makes a thousand island sauce.
bacon_nuts
Ketchup for me, and lots of cheddar, no butter, toast of any colour – as long as it’s unseeded. British smoked back back bacon. It’s the best. Although it can only get better if you add two or three sausages (size depending), baked beans, and a fried egg. THAT is a sandwich fit for a very greedy man, such as myself.
Tuffcub
Mmmm bacon
tonyyeb
Great to meet you Bacon. I like Bacon the most because PSN chat thinks when you type his name that you are swearing!
freezebug2
Never worked out which word that it’s supposed to be similar to in the swear dictionary as it only aterixes con or ba***. Maybe Gammon might have worked :O
freezebug2
Unless it thinks you’ve typed Bacun :P
Bodachi
I going to have to disagree on the butter.
AG2297
Literally have a bacon sarnie ready to read this, except I cant find any bread so it might just have to be bacon!
Great read as usual :).
Tuffcub
Im just off to buy some bacon. Noms!
