Sony has today announced that the sales of the PS Vita have reached over 1.2 million units worldwide, as of February 26th. Continuing the positive news, software sales across the globe have surpassed two million units at both retail and on PlayStation Network.
“PS Vita was designed to deliver the ultimate portable entertainment experience, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the reaction we’re seeing from consumers and the pace at which PS Vita is selling,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
“The market has responded and there is clear demand for a mobile device capable of providing a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context.”
“To sustain momentum, we’re working closely with 3rd party developers and publishers to ensure the best games and franchises possible will be available on PS Vita, and our software line up for the remainder of 2012 will have something for everyone across the globe.”
Sony say there are over 70 titles in development.

I have to hold off on buying a Vita. I have the money but not the time to actually use it. While there are some great games out already there is nothing that I would consider a system seller for me personally. I hope someone releases a solid RPG by June.

It’s obviously going to do well in launch week. 700,000 across the EU and US in it’s first week is not that great really. How long it has been out in Japan and the fact it was out for Christmas there as well, those numbers are awful.Hope the numbers don’t drop too much in the next few weeks in the EU and US

if Sony are happy with the numbers then all good after all they have never said how much they are expecting the vita to sale but good opening week for them..I contributed to those sales lol

I was expecting at least 1m+ sales for NA and EU alone in the first week. If sony think these numbers are possitive though, and the support will continue, I will be happy. Just needs a steady feed of must have titles. Unit 13, Resistance :Buring Skies etc all look good, but it has to continue on till christmas for them to get a good holiday sales boost.

I know a lot of people who have bought Vita’s on or after 26th mearly from word of mouth as to how good it is. I have to say that I am deeply impressed with both the device and the launch titles.
Just waiting for the Media centre to see my NAS drive on my network (DLNA)
Looking forward to Unit 13 and Gravity Rush, till then, Motorstorm RC and Everybody’s Golf is all I need.
