Phantasy Star Online 2 Screens Released

A few screens have been released to the public of the upcoming Vita game, Phantasy Star Online 2. The game is being developed by SEGA Japan who have yet to confirm whether or not it will be released in Europe.

Frankly, the screens are a little underwhelming, but with the release date penned in for 2013 there should be plenty of time to smooth out those edges.

The developers say the game is currently only “10%” done.

  1. Gosh digity darn they are some lacking visuals. Then again it’s hard to demonstrate what a handheld game is going to look like without it being on a 5″ screen

  2. I don’t see what’s so bad about the visuals? Easily playable for me!

  3. Looks good, but i’m still waiting for a PS3 version even the chances are zero… ;(

  4. if it plays anything like Phantasy Star Portable then its going to be exciting.

Can’t wait.. hopefully there won’t be a need to import *prays*

  5. good god that 3rd screenshot. i forgot it was 2001.

  6. Looks like PSO1 to be honest but at the end of the day it comes down to the gameplay and thil will be a day 1 purchase anyways.

    • I’m sure these models are some very early alpha placeholders until the high res models are ready. It’s scheduled for 2013 after all.

  7. the first pick reminds me of a Quake mod i used to have. Don’t care though, I still WANT!

  8. Looks a little blocky, but if that 10% is accurate then we should expect improvements before it’s released.

  9. They look like they are from an early PS2/late PS1 game but the game is only 10% done, so i imagine that Graphics are not their main focus atm.

Hang on, how is Phantasy Online going to work on the Vita? as i can see a lot of connection problems happening due to people being on the move and portable gaming isn’t really suited to online gaming.
