Nihilistic Details Resistance: Burning Skies Multiplayer

We’re little more than a month away from Vita’s debut first person shooter, Resistance: Burning Skies, which is due to launch on May 30th. To get the party started, the official PlayStation Blog will be plugging the game over the next few weeks, its most recent post shedding light on the game’s competitive multiplayer.

Matches will be structured for 2v2/4v4 encounters, featuring options for Deathmatch and TDM with a third mode due to be announced next week. Burning Skies will launch with 6 stock maps inspired by various locales in the singleplayer component.

As with the majority of modern online shooters, the game will also adopt and rank system that slowly builds as the player gains XP. In time this, along with your singleplayer progress, will combines to unlock new loadout options.

Burning Skies will also reward players for integrating with the PlayStation community. Aside from being able to form squads via the console’s “Party” function, “Near” can be used to acquire “social perks” such as XP multipliers.

  1. This must be like the first FPS on Vita which is a shame because it doesn’t look the best and to me there’s no point buying another Resistance game. It’ll be nice to see something different that would focus on multiplayer instead of campaigns because honestly they’re never good or satisfying imo or even something like Sanctum; which blends FPS with tower defense.

  2. I’ll get it eventually but not on release as theres a wedding that needs paying.

Yeah it doesn’t look that great but Resistance games (apart from no3’s single player) have never looked amazingly great unlike the Killzones and Uncharteds which both have amazing visuals, Resistance has just never been ‘up there’ with them but having said that they have been decent games i even enjoyed the coop on Resistance 2.

  3. I don’t think it looks that bad, really. Quite ok; a bit colourless & boring/samey, but not bad.

  4. Considering this is still in the “first wave” of Vita titles, I think it looks fine. As long as the framerate holds up, then I’ll be happy.

    • Same as me.
The graphics come across as inline with the rest of the series- devoid of colours and variety, but perfectly competent.

Hopefully the single-player gameplay holds up as well as the first (haven’t played the 3rd yet) PS3 game, or even better, Resistance: Retribution.

  5. Oh dear. Not what I had hoped for
