PSN Down For Thirteen Hours Tomorrow

Looks like Sony have now got a bloke that tells people when PSN is going down. He’ll be a busy chap – the PSN feel like it’s down every week of late.

“I’m here today to let you know that we will be performing routine scheduled maintenance on the network on Monday, April 16th, starting at approximately 6:00 am PDT / 9:00 am EDT,” says SCEA’s Matthew Harper.

“This maintenance will last roughly 13 hours, concluding around 7:00pm PDT / 10:00 pm EDT. During much of this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online.”

“PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one.”

Sounds like it’s the whole shebang, eh? I make that about 2pm tomorrow our time, although I fully expect to be corrected in the comments. There’s nothing on the EU Blog about this.

  1. Don’t mind the maintenance if it prevents hacking!!!!

  2. hmmm then there will be no SSX meet for tonight… *crying*

  3. 13 hrs! now that is rather ott, good job i gave up on the PS and went back to PC gaming ;P

  4. How inconsiderate of Sony not taking into account the TSA GT5 Meet?! ;)

  5. Not overly bothered by this, but there are a few things that do ‘niggle’ me about these maintenance sessions;

    The first annoyance (using the term lightly) is that they give no real notice that they are about to do them (one or two days at best usually), so you are completely screwed if you have a meet planned as it is usually too late notice to do anything about it.

    The second is that they never give any indication what they are for (such as security, network optimisation etc). At the end of the day, if you are doing your upmost to ensure your network is secure &/or running properly, shouldn’t you communicate this message?

    Finally, for something that gets maintenance so often, the maintenance periods do seem to go on for a hell of a long time… every time!

    Like i said, not bothered really as it gives me some time to work on some of the singleplayer campaigns i have been neglecting, but i personally feel a little bit more transparency in communication & a bit more explanation would go a long way.

  6. Excellent news:D + it’s a few days early this week to witch is a bonus:D

  7. While they’re at it, I hope they’ll update the ps3s user id cards’ pallet, to match the Vita. Im in agony seeing the true blacks popping up, while the fitting name 8ball, has to settle with grey.

  8. Well, i was going to play some ME3 mp in the hope that i don’t get kicked from every f*cking match again but seeing as Sony love to be a pain in the backside, shall just stick to Oblivion or the cast.

    Seriously, they need to let everyone know a few days in advance.
