Tony Hawk HD Will Feature “Some Music From Previous Games”

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 are the best sports games ever committed to disk.  They also sported the best soundtrack for a game (sorry, Journey) and so it’s hugely appreciated that Activision are trying to tie up some of the music from the originals into the HD remake that’s expected at some point this summer.

In an ‘exclusive’ hands on with the game, IBTimes (yeah, I know) stated that whilst the original soundtrack had “become synonymous with the game’s skater-punk feel” fans will be relieved to hear that “some music from previous games will be integrated into the upcoming release” alongside other music with a more “modern twist.”

Activision haven’t released or confirmed soundtrack details, but even if they just manage a few, this could be wonderful.

Looks like the two games have been given a nice graphical sheen too – the article says “airbrushed” and improved graphics, and also confirms that the first four levels have been locked down and completed – Warehouse, School II, Venice Beach, CA and Marseilles, France.  To be fair, I’d be happy with just those four.

Release, please.

  1. Could be interesting, cool if they add stuff from the other games after a while, like Rio.

  2. As Alley Life should have put it, ‘out with the new, in with the old!’ *word, scratchy sratchy*

Superb news, and listening to Goldfinger again has made my day :)

    • I was just thinking of Goldfinger as well when I read this. I think I’m going to have to have a listen to superman now.

Whenever this came on you knew it was onnnnnnnnnnnnn!

  4. It’s awesome that some of the original music is going to be in there – the re-release of Crazy Taxi proved how much of the experience includes the music (and how bad a ‘modern’ take can be).

  5. these games were great back in the day but I get the feeling they will have aged badly. There are very few PS2 games that have survived the test of time, let alone PS1 games.

  6. Loved THPS 3 more than any other TH game. Loved the music in that also!

  7. Am kinda pleased by this news actually – Have always been a fan of the THPS soundtracks & it’s good to hear some of it will be returning at least, as I know that licencing can often be an issue for this sort of thing. Additionally, some newer music in there would be good too… As long as it isn’t all dubstep of course!

  8. yay Powerman 5000! :P

  9. trophies ?

  10. I bet it’s going to be filled with all the rubbish pop-punk music we have today.
Pop punk/Punk of the 90’s is what they should include.
