Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 are the best sports games ever committed to disk. Â They also sported the best soundtrack for a game (sorry, Journey) and so it’s hugely appreciated that Activision are trying to tie up some of the music from the originals into the HD remake that’s expected at some point this summer.
In an ‘exclusive’ hands on with the game, IBTimes (yeah, I know) stated that whilst the original soundtrack had “become synonymous with the game’s skater-punk feel” fans will be relieved to hear that “some music from previous games will be integrated into the upcoming release” alongside other music with a more “modern twist.”
Activision haven’t released or confirmed soundtrack details, but even if they just manage a few, this could be wonderful.
Looks like the two games have been given a nice graphical sheen too – the article says “airbrushed” and improved graphics, and also confirms that the first four levels have been locked down and completed –Â Warehouse, School II, Venice Beach, CA and Marseilles, France. Â To be fair, I’d be happy with just those four.

“Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 are the best sports games ever committed to disk”. Matter of opinion! As far as skateboarding games go, in my opinion, the Skate series blows THPS out of the water. As far as sports games go I think Fifa would have a little something to say about that statement!

Totally depends what you are into to be fair – If you like your skating kinda realistic & more faithful to the genre, Skate should be your choice. If you like insane combos, bizarre runs that would never work even with a rocket skateboard & a more arcadey experience Tony Hawk should be your choice.
I like all, but i am more of a fan of TH if i am brutally honest. It’s just more fun IMO.

This is shaping up to be an an absolute dream HD remake. Just listening to the song above took me back to being 11 all over again. Tis gonna be a great summer.
