New Resistance: Burning Skies Images Are Here

Reviews for Resistance: Burning Skies are due soon, with the game coming in just a week’s time. So these new screenshots are probably intended to accompany those reviews and show off how shiny it looks.

They certainly look a lot better than previous screens of the game have but they’re also not presented at anything close to native resolution (I’ve resized them so each image isn’t 3.5Mb) so I’m assuming they’re renders which may have even been touched up a bit with anti-aliasing.

I haven’t had a chance to play the game myself yet but I have been assured that it looks much better in motion that those previous screens so hopefully these renders are pretty close to the mark.

  1. Er, looks like I have a bad copy then. The game does NOT look like this. =(

    • I’m so confused, these shots look far better than the trailers I’ve seen.

      • Yeah, they’re downsized from some kind of PC render. Game looks nowhere near that sharp.

    • for what it’s worth, these were supplied at 3840×2176, 96ppi. That’s a pixel count 400% larger than native.
Vita’s native resolution is 960×544, 220ppi but I think that any screens I’ve captured off it myself have always exported to 72ppi, which is the old standard for digital display.

      • The game runs at far less than 960×544 though.

    • Dang. I was really hoping they kicked it into top gear for release. Still looking forward to the big boss fights. I’m getting this one.

  2. looks really nice going to get on release day.

  3. You can tell from the trailer alone that the game does not look this clear. I’m still going to get it but they shouldn’t raise people expectations with false images of the game.

    • My thoughts entirely. I think this sets them up for a backlash. I’m sure it’ll look perfectly fine in motion so why not just let it be?

      • I agree, I’m gonna pick it up regardless but they are setting themselves up for a fall by sending out these types of upscaled pics.

      • Could this technically class as false advertising?

      • Because sending out screen shots that look total tosh not in motion put people off buying?

      • Is the high quality of the images to do with some form of PS3/Vita cross play? It’s a shame to see such high quality images and know that the game will never be of that quality.

  4. I feel like I’m alone in looking forward to this game

    • I’m quite keen. Never played a Resistance before, aside from the demo of the first one briefly but very eager to see an FPS on the Vita.

    • I’m excited for it aswell and have got it pre-ordered.

  5. Torn between getting this or Gravity Rush (will eventually buy the other at a later date.) Really hankering for my first Vita online shooter, but if there are performance issues, I might give it a miss.

  6. Looking better that some of the other screens and trailer we have seen.

  7. That looks so hilariously not like the footage of the game we’ve seen thus far. I remember that multilayer footage at least being so far below native resolution that for the first time I sympathised with Nofi ;)

  8. Hope it’s a belter…
