A couple of EA bigwigs have spoken about their love for Microsoft’s second screen initiative. Frank Gibeau, boss of EA Labels, kicks off the love-in by calling “a killer initiative,” before going on to say “I really like it a lot. It ties into what we’re trying to do as a company.”
Many people have already spotted the obvious potential for EA’s gargantuan sports franchises to use the technology in interesting ways and Andrew Wilson, boss of EA Sports couldn’t agree more.
If you look at Madden or FIFA this year, they have a series of multi-screen applications that allow you to manage your connected career or manage your FIFA Ultimate team while you’re in front of the screen or while you’re away from the screen. What that’s enabling is people to engage in a world that’s very, very important to them that they’re very passionate about even while they’re away from their 60-inch television
It doesn’t only sound very exciting for future projects, it sounds like something that could possibly be replicated across other platform’s second screens (Wii U tablet, PS Vita) to offer the experience to all console gamers. Hopefully we’ll find out exactly how it all works later this year.

Sounds a bit like the battlelog and BF3. I usually have a laptop beside me showing how crap my stats really are, so that I don’t need someone else to tell me.

What would be awesome is if you could do all the transfer stuff and team management on your phone, so that when you go to play the game next it’s all sorted and you need to do it play your matches.

What would be great if I just turned on my console and got my controller out and you know played the game?
Is that too forward thinking. Soon i’ll be having a tablet / smartphone / laptop /sat there with 3D glasses think of the poor rechargers…

HA. What were you thinking, old timer?! Everyone knows it becomes a more immersive experience when you’re hooked up to several machines that feed you irrelevant information whilst also charging you a large amount for the privilege!
