Community Round-Up: 23/06/12

The past week flashed by so fast I didn’t even realise it was the weekend again! [I guess that explains why I had to remind you, then? -Tef] Anyway, here’s this weeks Community Round-Up!

There aren’t any new competitions for us this week, but we do have an update for the first week of the TSA DiRT Showdown Tournament. Death_in_Flamez has even put together some extensive videos from all the races topped with commentary to go alongside. A pretty big effort.

Let’s see what we’ve got this week with the TSA Meets.

Tonight, Bodachi hosts the usual Uncharted 3 meet beginning at 7pm, whilst R1MJAW hosts the weekly DiRT Showdown meet at 6pm tomorrow.

Jambo returns to the internet and will be hosting the already packed out GT5 Meet starting at 7pm, as Youles hosts another DiRT 3 meet at 8pm. A tad later, quinkill hosts the Max Payne 3 meet at 9pm.

Death_in_Flamez hosts Thursday’s Battlefield 3 DLC only meet at 7pm and element666 hosts an Assassins Creed Revelations meet at 8pm.

And lastly, Youles hosts his usual WipEout 2048 for Vita meet on Friday at 9pm, and you can expect Forrest’s Friday Night Battlefield to make an appearance too.

Keep checking the Meets to see any new ones that get created, or why not create your own Meet, provided you have 250 TSA Points.

We’ve only got two reviews for you this week I’m afraid, I’d blame the summer lull in releases! Anyway, Dan gave the Ratchet & Clank Trilogy an 8/10, and Peter had the unfortunate role of looking at Steel Battalion: Heavy Armour for Kinect, giving it an extremely disappointing 1/10, the very lowest scores this site has ever given! Lastly, Al gives Metal Gear Solid HD for Vita a going over, thinking back to the reviews of the home console release earlier this year, and asking if it’s worthy of your attentions.

Once more, there are no previews this week, but we had a few opinion pieces. First up, Kris asks Whatever Happened to Arcades, as Alex explains why he Doesn’t Want a Next-Gen Console. It seems Alex has been a busy boy, as he also had a look at Playstation Plus.

Now, let’s move onto the Community articles. You may have thought that last week’s Meet the Reader was the last one, but you forgot about the all important MtR Exam that Teflon has imposed on us all. Best hurry, since time’s up tonight! For WeView, the Verdict for Darksiders is available, and inFamous 2 is put under the spotlight. Last week’s Sunday Thoughts was on the topic of Episodic Content, then What We Played #58 is brought to us once more by Greg, and finally we have the latest TSA Podcast.

The Forums have been a bit quiet this week, but here’s a selection of what is to be found there.

Last week, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy took on Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw. The battle ended 5-3 in favour of Sephiroth, so he makes it through to face possibly his final battle before entering the Hall of Fame. This week, attempting to stop him from doing such a feat is Solid Snake.

Sephiroth

Pros

  • Can destroy a planet.
  • Very skilled fighter and considered to be the very best.
  • Has an army of Fangirls to rely on.

Cons

  • Can only fly in a circle, due to only having one wing.
  • Was defeated by a boy, I’ll bet that was really embarrassing.
  • Could destroy a planet and yet he chooses to summon Meteor? So he is not very smart…

Solid Snake

Pros

  • Stealth expert, who is very well trained in the use of a large variety weapons.
  • Has backup and Intel from FOXHOUND.
  • Sounds a bit like David Hayter.

Cons

  • Depth-perception impaired from the loss of 1 eye.
  • An utterly ridiculous hair-do.
  • Are clones ever truly better than the original?

That’s it for another week! Vote below for the Showdown and thanks again to Teffers for some suggestions.

Cya!

  1. Snake just so I dont have to see that Sephiroth again.

    • Message from Roy: DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! (it goes on for about 9 pages)

Also, die! Oh that is from me. Not because of this, but for stealing my effing tea stash! I know it was you! *takes away OK’s last remaining biscuit*

    • DIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

      • knew this was coming, either way cast my vote so we dont see Sephiroth next week ;)

  2. Sephiroth. Coz, well…. he is one mean son of a bitch with a nver say die attitude created to bring the pain. Snake is a pussy by comparison.

  3. …Uh that guy with the name beginning with S…eh Seprirothe or somethingg.

  4. Sephiroth. Snake would be decimated.

  5. As much as I prefer Snake, it I am playing properly it has to be Sephiroth. He is practically a god, versus a man that is good at being quiet and cuddling you to sleep.

  6. Snake, Snake, Snake!

    • Also, Solid Snake never lost an eye. Only Solidus and Big Boss lost an eye. Geez…
