The leaked images of the new CECH-4000 slimmer PS3 weren’t clear – if they were real at all – but most looked at them and thought they were a bit ugly.
However, these Photoshop renders, by NeoGAF member MYE, make it look infinitely better, see:

Even that slightly bizarre top sliding disk thing looks lovely in these images.

Tis a bit ugly and i fecking hope the disc tray will be able to hold onto the disc when it is upright as i don’t like having my games slamming against the slider. Hmm, i wonder if the slider can be activated by the remove disc option?

I kept my first phat ps3 upright and it got ylod after two years. Since then, i’ve kept my second (phat) ps3 lying flat and it’s still going strong after four years and a few months. Not that ps3’s don’t get ylod when lying flat but somehow i feel more reassured keeping it that way. If the integrity of the solder is impaired at least the gpu can’t move in any direction – except closer to the circuit-board! :)

Its still uglier than 3 day old road kill though

I guess the Super Long PS3 doesn’t have the same marketing appeal, even though it’s more fitting.

I suppose this design will be more prone to dust etc. Although there’ll be easy access for cleaning .. but then small sticky fingers will also have easy access too.. uh-oh.. :)
I actually like the ribbed look, although i think it might require a toothbrush/Q-tips to clean it.
I’m not too keen on the top-heavy look though, i would prefer a more uniform length across the top and bottom sections, or even having the bottom section more centred – although i realise that it’s designed so as to be stable when standing it on it’s end.
I wouldn’t rush out and buy one but i’ll see what happens when the time comes that i need a new ps3.

PS3’s have never looked sexy, until now!
