Now We’re Allowed To Say That Battlefield 4 Is Real

Medal of Honor Warfighter is on the way. We’re quite looking forward to it. There’s a video below showing off some of the multiplayer stuff, you should give it a watch.

But, apparently much more important is the announcement of the pre-order bonus you’ll get if you buy Warfighter soon: Battlefield 4 beta access. Yes, it was announced last week but then we were all told that an official EA store page didn’t count and that we should all just shush and wait for a real announcement. Well, here it is. Enjoy.

  1. no longer looking forward to this because i know there will be another premium that i will be tempted to buy. Wish they would go with BFBC2s VIP system. New buyers get the stuff for free. ( yes because i am too cheap )

    • I miss the old ways of BC2…played around 250hrs of that, in comparison to 11hrs of BF3…

      • I loved both bad company’s especially 2 i haven’t played BF3 half as much as i have the bad company series.

    • You liked it when they drip fed you game modes being enabled on existing maps? That annoyed the heck out of me.

I prefer it the way it was in BF3, where all maps had all game modes right off the bat, and where there are four packs of completely new maps being gradually released over the space of a year, leading to one of the longest tails of support for a title like this.

      • Oh man you’ve brought back some nasty memories of playing nothing but Gold Rush on maps that needed conquest so badly!! Was very annoying indeed

  2. If the BF3 beta included with MOH is anything to go by I really cannot see the point of this. I held onto a copy of that shite game for months only to end up getting a meer 24 hour advantage over everyone else.

    • the point was that you held on to the copy of the game for months and not making it available to the pre-owned market

      • ;) touche

      • Conversely though, he did say “I really cannot see the point of this” & so him holding onto a copy for months for no purpose was not to his benefit, so there really was no point for him.

Ergo, don’t bother this time Davey! :)

      • But the beta access was tied to the online pass code and not the game disc. The whole BF3beta on MoH was nothing more than a tactic to increase sales, (just like how EA excessively advertised the MP was made by Dice) so battlefield players would buy into it.

    • You could of just traded it in then bought another copy, or borrowed one when the beta came out, and at that point you might of realised you only got that 24hr advantage and not bothered.

  3. Odd having the mystery, but not as odd as people being surprised by it, seeing as that almost a couple of years ago EA’s top guys said Bf will be up against Infinity Ward’s releases & MoH will be up against Treyarch’s on an alternating basis…

    • Honestly, with the gap between BF2 and BF3 I thought they’d do the same with 4 and pad out its release with some sub par BF games in between.

I wasn’t happy with the BC games because after BF2 it felt like they were scaling down (obviously they were because they were made for consoles). But now I can’t see how they’ll be changing the game enough for a new version in the main series.

  4. Sod the BF4 Beta access – the MP in Warfighter looks pretty good – especially the buddy system! Looking forward to that!
Don’t get me wrong – I love Battlefield too, but i’ll never buy a game just to get a taste of another game! Betas are there to aid development and it is a damn shame developers use exlcusive Beta access to help sell a product!!!

    • This.

Oh, hold on, we don’t like those one-word comment replies here… Um…

      I agree with this. SMILEYFACE.

  5. Not doing any pre ordering for EA games anymore. BF3 was terrible IMO, the more I played it the more you find annoyances with the game/design. MOH was just a pile of cack so wont be buying the next one unless it has some serious changes to it.

I like some of the ideas in the video, but you can never tell until its out and people have played it.

    • I’m really struggling to see how you think the last two FPS’s from EA have been that bad :s I’ve played a lot of FPS’s this generation and MoH and BF3 stand out for me, up there with COD4 and KZ2.

      • Medal of Hono(u)r, Unreal Tournament 3 and Call of Duty 4 were my favourite 3 shooters this gen.

      • To each their own I guess but I certainly agree with Bilbo on this one. MOH in particular was terrible.

      • Why do you think that though? Im just baffled to see people so negative about it

      • …& is that opinion based upon the singleplayer, the multiplayer or both combined?

I have heard people slate it for having a mp developed by a different dev (DICE if i recall) & i have heard the sp slated for being a bit of a clone (although of what i don’t know).

I am yet to play the sp, but the mp is good – I just hate that there is no killcam is all.

      • MOH: Boring single player with naff visuals and some very questionable AI. Much prettier game online but poorly designed stages resulting in tonnes of spawn camping.

BF3: Terrible campaign. A Call of Duty clone mixed with quick time events… Online was much better but not a patch on Bad Company 2, particularly in terms of level design and server performance.

It doesn’t help of course that the whole industry is getting very stale.

      • LTG Davey says it basically. BF3 SP is boring and I couldn’t be bothered to finish it. Online is a long story, but with lag/poor servers/poor gunplay/input lag and rubbish design ideas it doesn’t work for me. It’s not a patch on BC2 IMO.
MOH single player was alright, nothing special though. MP was just rubbish, everything about it was just rubbish. Graphically/maps/guns/lag/killstreaks and so on.

EA have sold out on Battlefield and turned it into a clone of COD. I can see why, but it doesn’t work and they should of stuck with their original design features. WIth no feedback on many complaints on the console gamers, it made me think twice about buying another EA FPS game from now on.
UT3/COD4 were classics and still my fav games ;-)

      • Each to their own I guess. I really enjoyed SP and MP on MoH, and Im currently progressing through the SP of BF3 which is great IMO and im loving the MP. They both felt like a change to the usual FPS or COD with the grittier feel and heavy controls. Suppose that it what I prefer.
I can agree with the connection problems, an issue which has always been present in every EA game I play.

      • You should try Max Payne mate – That’ll be an… Experience.

  6. looks stunning, 60 frames per second looks lovely.
unfortunately we will get the inferior version.

  7. looks good the last game was ok if its more of the same wont be to disappointed so it’ll do till the next battlefield gets here would of preferred a new bad company though

    • “more of the same” is the problem. Who wants that in a new game?

      • If it’s a really good game, I’d be perfectly happy with “more of the same”. Best example: Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and Exodus.

      • Perhaps we should just settle on “more of the same… but different” then chaps, no? :)

  8. Really looking forward to MOH Warfighter but I’m never going to buy a more expensive version just for access to a beta. As much as l love the Battlefield series I’m not willing to pay to be a guinea pig for EA.

    • Nobody pays any more. All “Limited Edition” copies of the game get the beta, these are the only versions of the game up for pre-order, and they are not priced any higher than a standard retail release for a game.

      • Ah thanks for clearing that up Tef. Got confused with the wholle Digital Deluxe thing. Thought it applied to all platforms not just PC.

  9. A better preorder bonus or limited edition would be a HD remake of Rising Sun, similar to MoH with Frontline which was something different to have in a limited edition and was really good to play.

  10. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. No, I won’t pay extra for one of your games for the privilege of helping you test one of your other games. EA really can be cheeky sods sometimes, the sad fact is some people will jump for this.

    • It makes them feel ‘special’.

& fair play to them if they wish to spend their time making an experience better for others. Sadly, i think most will get it for bragging rights that they have played it early & will never bother to report bugs & so forth.

      • Exactly “bragging rights”. I can see the Facebook status updates now “in the BF4 Beta…whoop whoop”, followed by everyone complaining it’s now “that good looking”, “it’s buggy”, “connection issues” etc – but none of which will be in an email to DICE / EA. Then they’ll have the nerve to say “not buying BF4 ‘cos the Beta was crap, getting CoD instead”. Sigh

      • Yep – Spot on.

Unfortunately, everyone just treats betas as ‘demos’ these days, players & game companies alike.

      • All pre-orders currently available are at the industry standard RRP of £50 (translating to pre-order prices around £35-40).

All “Limited Edition” copies of the game will have access to the BF4 beta.

All pre-orders currently available are the “Limited Edition”, except for the “Digital Deluxe” which is PC only, only available over Origin, and has further in-game DLC and the game’s soundtrack included.

So, as it stands, everyone that pre-orders the game will get the BF4 beta. They are not being charged any extra for access to the beta, and this is merely an incentive to buy the game at launch rather than wait.

Anyone buying the game solely for the beta, and not for the game itself doesn’t deserve their money, and good on EA getting to them before they were conned into buying some “magic” beans, or whatever.

      • I presume that was in response to Tony, tef?

I know i won’t be paying any extra for it. In fact, i won’t be paying at all! :)

      • I’m telling everyone that looks like they’re misinformed on the matter. ;)
