Jagex has announced a new studio has been opened near Cambridge. The RuneScape developer is working on a “very experimental game”, according to CEO Mark Gerhard.
“We have the resources to add another studio, and we very much want to make more games than what we’ve committed too so far. But the quality mark is how many great games can we make a year, rather than how many we can make a year.”
Not much information has been given about the new studio or the project that is currently under development, but information is expected to be released within the next few weeks.

Seeing as they only have one game to their name that i’m aware of, i’m going to take caution and not trust them 100% as i’ve seen some footage of Runescape and doesn’t look like anything special, just the generic fantasy MMO IMO. Hopefully they will surprise us by announcing a very interesting game. :)

You have to remember that Runescape is ancient. Back in the day this game was a small revolution, as it will be for those who have yet to experience an MMO.
If not for Runescape I probably wouldn’t have such a close bond with the medium. In many respects it opened the door for me, and I can’t wait to see what Jagex is cooking up next, be it browser-based or otherwise.

They’ve got Runescape (Their undoubtedly most successful), they experimented with 8Realms (Epic Fail), then League of Legends also perhaps a fail, but Transformer’s Online is being developed at the moment, but in my opinion, I think Jagex should just stick with Runescape, that MMO is purely awesome.
