Jay-Z, hip-hop mogul and part owner of the New Jersey Nets, has been announced as an executive producer on forthcoming basketball game NBA 2K13.
We doubt he will sitting in on every meeting, executive producer credits are usually more to do with have a big name plastered across the packaging, however Mr. Z has been instrumental in re-branding the New Jersey Nets with a more ‘urban image’.
The announcement has met with mixed reactions, ‘Great now the soundtrack will really suck’ was on comment on YouTube but another was more upbeat, ‘Amazing Gotta get this. Million sold first day!’

Yeah, let’s put some more cash in that moron’s pockets.
Shadow_lawless
Why is he a moron? He’s probably one the most talented and intelligent lyricist / creative writers we’ve had in the last few decades.

Not in my opinion.
I think he’s extremely overrated and dull as a pop-artist.
As a hip-hop artist, he’s just a businessman, which I don’t respect at all.
I liked his early work though, back when he performed with Jaz – he skowed some proper skills then.

Not liking what he does to make money in the music game now is one thing. But doesn’t mean you can disregard his older work and his ability to write.
But he is also very heavily into marketing in the buisness sector where he has proved he can apply his creativity and intelligence in different ways. Including Budweiser, his 40/40 clubs several public events, women’s make up ect ect.
I respect you don’t like his music now but calling him a moron is a little harsh. You should check out the “decoded” app where he talks about his inspirations and writing in detail, it might change your mind a little

I normally can’t stand rap music but even I can see how talented Mr Z is.

I absolutely won’t check out his app, I don’t care where he got his inspiration from.
To me, he’s an uninspired rapper that only helps the hip hop culture tied to the mainstream, where there’s no room for talent or creativity.
What he does with other business ventures like clubs and make up (which I can only assume is just to keep 50 Cent in constant supply) has little impact on my respect for Jay-Z as a musician.
Oh, and if I for example “normally can’t stand heavy music”, then I’m probably not best equipped to name any metal artist as talented.

WELL OF COURSE.

Ah, my old nemesis…JAY-Z. Can’t imagine he’s gonna have much to contribute outside of the soundtrack. Maybe the Brooklyn Nets will get their stats boosted a bit.
