News Snatch: Ken Levine Reverses, Konami Blocks And LBP2 Cross Controls

First up we have details of the latest ’12 Deals Of Christmas’ offer on the European PlayStation Store. Deal number seven is for NBA 2K13, which will be on sale for £19.99/€29.99 (60% off), the offer expires 11.59pm on 14th December.

The Internet was rather unhappy with the cover art for Bioshock Infinite so Irrational Games founder Ken Levine has reversed the decision. ‘I’m happy to announce that the game will come with a reversible cover’ he said on a blog post. See what I did there? Reversed his decision! I am a comedy genius. Fans can now vote on six possible covers, all of which are a million times better than the generic bobbins that will be the ‘official’ cover.

Levine has also described the cancelled multiplayer component of Bioshock Infinite as ‘really extraordinary stuff’. “We got to a point where we said ‘okay, this is the you-know-what or get off the pot moment,’ and we decided to get off the pot because it wasn’t there yet,” he continued.

I think that means that the multiplayer was not up to scratch but he may have just been detailing his toilet habits.

Footage from the God Of War: Ascension multiplayer beta has emerged, ‘a standoff so epic it can only be God of War as four warriors compete to rise from warrior to champion of the Gods!’ PlayStation Plus subscribers can join in the beta on 9th January, although limited keys have already gone out this week to early testers.

Charity begins at home which probably explains why THQ‘s Jason Rubini has just paid $10,000 for the THQ Humble Bundle. The offer has recently expired and has raised over $5 million for good causes – and THQ.

Thinking of downloading the demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance from the Japanese store? Well don’t bother, it will not work even if you have a Japanese PSN account. For some strange reason Konami have region locked the demo and it will only work on Japanese consoles.

Amazon have posted details of the Hitman HD Trilogy which has yet to be officially confirmed by Square Enix. They are listing the pack for $39.99 and it includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money plus an bit of paper that you will look at once and never, ever look at again. I think the technical name for that is an ‘exclusive art book’.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is to be patched next week with a few minor improvement and tweaks, click here for full details.

Assassin’s Creed III has sold over seven million copies making it the fastest selling game ever for Ubisoft. In the single player portion of the title gamers have accumulated more than 82 centuries of gaming time and committed more than 3 billion in-game assassinations.

PlayStation 3 fans envious of Wii U owners’ ability to look at two screens at the same time will soon be able to experience the same boggled-eyed confusion as the PS Vita Cross Controller Pack for LittleBigPlanet 2 will arrive next week. As well as adding support for the Vita’s functions the pack will include new levels in which Sackboy joins up with a group of ‘lovable Space Pirates’ as they race to find a valuable treasure. The pack was announced on the US PS Blog and will cost $4.99. We played it ages ago and it was quite nice.

And finally, it’s Christmas! Time to deck the halls with boughs of holly, or in the case of Brighton, deck the streets with willies.

  1. Hey! My Willy wont be hung on the streets of Brighton, but it’ll probably make an appearance at some point! It usualy does around Christmas time

    • We streaking again?

LBP2 DLC sounds good, and I like design #4 for Bioshock!

      • We’ll do the windmill down west street :)

  2. Not liking that some of LBP2’s DLC requires hardware… just seems so morally wrong for anyone that doesn’t own a Move or Vita.

    I’d rather they just follow with EA and release a Unlock all code, gameplay is so dull now for me. ;_;

    • Why is it morally wrong for DLC to require a piece of hardware? Some games require a piece of hardware to play them.

      • And no one is forcing you to buy the DLC.

  3. Sadly the Brighton lights are apparently fake, which ruins my plan to take picture of them when I head there this evening. Then again, it can’t be too hard finding the occasional willy on the street of Brighton…

  4. is it just me who thinks that the bottom bioshock picture looks incredibly like a *ahem*?

    • I had not spotted that. FILTH!

    • So it’s Biocock then? I’ll grab my coat. And hang my head in shame. *hangs head in shame*

  5. I like #5 from the Bioshock box art most, that’s the one I voted for.
And the stats Ubi released about AC3 were quite interesting, they showed the massive gap between SP and MP playtime which is hardly surprising.

  6. #4 Box art is the best. It looks a lot like the Mothership album cover by Led Zeppelin

    • Yeah, I also voted for #4. And surprisingly it’s got the top position at the moment with almost 40% of the votes.

  7. i think number 5 is my favourite alternate cover, though 6 is pretty cool.
4 would make a great poster, not so good as a cover i think.

i’m kinda surprised 1 is in last place, prominent cleavage and all.

also, that’s that russian cosplayer in pics 3 and 5 isn’t it?

and somebody just trolled brighton? ^_^

probably just as well whoever did that hates their job, because i don’t think they’ll have it much longer.

    • If it makes you feel any better – “Yay! Cleavage!”.

Also, let’s not underestimate the valuable service provided by Ormeli for her cosplay of Bioshock. To refer to my previous point(s) – “Yay! Cleavage”.

Finally, yes. Somebody trolled Brighton. Because they’re so liberal, Brighton think’s it’s edgy. It’s really not. It’s no Norwich. Go Norwich. Woo! Tractors, and shit!
